Latest Wikipedia for Android update brings link previews

Wikipedia for Android has received an update, bumping it to version 2.0.110. Among the new features the update brings, the most notable is the ability to let users see previews of links.

The updated app now lets you see a preview of the article whenever you tap on a link, making it easier for you to take a quick look at the topic without leaving the current page. The preview also includes a swipeable image thumbnail gallery.

In addition, pressing-and-holding links now produces more options, including save for offline reading, share, and copy. The update has also made it easy to share a link to the current article, something which can now directly be done from the overflow menu.

Finally, the update has also brought along tabbed browsing, updates to Material Design compliance, and several other improvements.

NVIDIA SHIELD tablet updated with Stagefright patch, other improvements

The Stagefright exploit has gotten a lot of people worried, affecting nearly all Android devices currently being used. Manufacturers have been scrambling to update their devices with a patch for the exploit, and NVIDIA is the latest to do so.

The NVIDIA SHIELD tablet is being updated to software version 3.1.1, which includes a Stagefright patch. But that’s not all. NVIDIA also included system-wide optimizations and fixes, including an improvement in battery life and Netflix playback. There’s also a new controller firmware update, and the regular “stability and performance improvements” listed in every update.

If you own the device, check for updates and start downloading the latest. Even ignoring the Stagefright patch, it should be a great update for performance.
