Lucha contra las hordas del infierno en Storm the Train

Con Storm the Train estamos ante un videojuego que podría pertenecer perfectamente a esa saga de juegos clásicos que inundaban las salas de máquinas recreativas y que a través de esos mandos con una gran bola en la parte superior del stick, conseguía que nos engancháramos a los que tenemos un poco más de edad.

Storm the Train desembarca en Android de forma gratuita con un aspecto visual excelente y un gran frenesí como arcade. Un videojuego para disfrutar y armarnos con todo tipo de pistolas, escopetas recortadas y metralletas. Todo un derroche visual con un toque cartoon y ese fondo que hace de las suyas para darnos la sensación de que vamos sobre un tren a toda máquina en el que tenemos que ir deshaciéndonos de las criaturas del infierno que quieren eliminarnos de la faz de la tierra, ¿te apuntas a un gran arcade?

Salta al vagón del tren

Storm the Train tiene todo a su favor para convertirse en un clásico arcade para Android. Luchando con cientos de todo tipo de criaturas del infierno, tendremos que usar los saltos y las metralletas para ir avanzando ante lo que propone este videojuego que pareciera que no fuera acabar. Suerte la nuestra, ya que tendremos videojuego para rato.

Tendremos la posibilidad de reclutar nuevos agentes, todo tipo de armas, realizar compras como micropagos, adquirir habilidades e incluso una especie de robot volador que se encargará el solo de ir matando a las hordas del infierno. Aquí es donde entra uno de los puntos más llamativos de este videojuego donde encontraremos un gran arsenal cada vez que pasemos una fase. Incluso podremos descansar unos segundos antes de enfrentarnos al demonio de nuevo.

Misiones a doquier en un arcade frenético

Tendremos también misiones para cumplir y así podremos acceder, cuando las cumplamos, a un buen rango de nuevas habilidades como puede ser cuando realicemos una donde tenemos que ir en un helicóptero.

Digamos que Storm the Train recoge lo mejor de juegos como Ghosts n Goblins o Contra para realizar un coctel de gran calidad que te enganchará a las primeras de cambio.

En torno a su calidad técnica, todo excelente con unos gráficos cartoon que juegan su gran papel en este videojuego y todo tipo de efectos gráficos para que el entorno visual sea de gran calidad y nos quedemos a gusto utilizando la recortada o todo tipo de armas. Un buen gameplay con muchos enemigos a los que matar y un gran repertorio en el armamento, vestuario y agentes por adquirir.

Un videojuego muy recomendable que se une a las otras dos incorporaciones que hemos lanzado en el día de ayer, por lo que un fin de semana de esos de gran altura. Lo tenéis de forma gratuita desde la Play Store así que no faltéis a la cita ineludible que significa Storm the Train.

Weekly poll results: Sony Xperia C5 Ultra and M5 bathe in fan love

The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra and the Xperia M5 were announced less than two weeks ago, but have already gathered a loyal following. Our weekly poll results are out and Sony’s midrange pair has gotten plenty of fan love.

The bezelless Xperia C5 Ultra collected a total of 84% of positive votes – a huge achievement, rivaling the Moto X Style from the week before. And we understand the enthusiasm, the massive 6-inch FullHD display is blazing hot on its own, but the phone is not without other merits (the 13MP front camera with flash says “Hi”).

We expected a closer call with the Xperia M5, but the flagship in disguise achieved more or less the same numbers – only one in five voters dislikes it.

This all-round performer has power to spare thanks to the top-of-the-line Mediatek chipset, sports the same 13MP front camera to cater to the selfie crowd, and comes in a water-tight package nearly identical to the company’s flagship. Xperia Z3+,…

Week 33 in review: Samsung Unpacked, Nexus and iPhone rumors

The past few days in the mobile realm were quite busy to say the least. August 13 finally came and with it the eagerly-anticipated Samsung Unpacked event. As expected, the Korean giant revealed a pair of new devices and made the Galaxy Note5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ official.

Both phablets lived up to the bulk of the rumors and come with Exynos 7420 SoC, gorgeous 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED displays and 4GB of RAM. Besides a tour of the phones, we also got to see the odd clip-on keyboard that Samsung is offering as an accessory, earned some info on pricing and availability and even got our first glimpse of camera quality in a few Note5 sample shots.

There we however a couple of disappointments from camp Samsung as well. For one, we learned that the Note5 won’t be initially available in the EU, through official channels that is.

In other news, new information on the next pair of Nexus devices surfaced online. The LG and Huawei manufactured units allegedly look quite similar, but nothing is certain yet. Apple also made headlines with an announcement that iOS 8.4.1 is now available to all supported devices and with interesting rumors about the possible return on the budget-oriented “C”-range, with an iPhone 6C and 1GB of RAM inside the iPhone 6s.

Xiaomi has also been making the headlines. The Chinese manufacturer officially announced the Redmi Note 2 and the Redmi Note 2 Prime, as well as the all new MIUI 7 OS. Last, but not least, Qualcomm officially outed its new top-of-the-line chipset – the Snapdragon 820, as well as the new Snapdragon 212 and 412 models.

AMOS-3005 un mini-PC fanless de VIA Technologies

AMOS-3005 es un nuevo mini-PC de igual dimensiones que el AMOS-820 que VIA nos presenta como un sistema fanless, es decir, que no necesita de ventiladores para su refrigeración. De hecho utiliza una solución cada vez más usual, emplear la propia carcasa del equipo como disipador de calor.

VIA Technologies, el tercero en discordia tras Intel y AMD, y que últimamente está un poco olvidado (al menos en el ámbito del alto rendimiento), ahora nos sorprende con este sistema. De hecho, VIA ha trabajado para crear una serie de procesadores de muy bajo consumo como es el Eden X4 de cuatro núcleos que integra este sistema.

 

Además viene equipado con una placa base de factor bastante reducido en las que VIA es uno de los pioneros, dejando de lado las ATX tradicionales y otros factores mayores. Igualmente, el AMOS-3005 viene equipado con un chipset VIA VX11 MSP (Media System Processor), en el que se integra el controlador de memoria, el sistema de expansión E/S y la GPU.

Uno de los atractivos es sus dimensiones, no solo es pequeño, sino que tiene unas dimensiones estándar para poder atornillarlo a un monitor (justo en los agujeros disponibles para atornillar el soporte de pared) gracias a su compatibilidad VESA. Lo que permite tener un equipo de sobremesa que apenas ocupa más que el monitor y por supuesto compatible con sistemas GNU/Linux, además de otras plataformas.

Benchmarking Samsung Galaxy Note5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+

We get our hands on retail units of Samsung Galaxy Note5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+, so we decided to benchmark them before anything else. As you probably know by now, the duo of 5.7″ phablets made their official debut a couple of days ago.

Both newcomers feature Exynos 7420 chipset developed in-house by Samsung with 1.5 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, 2.1 GHz quad-core Cortex-A57 CPU, Mali-T760MP8 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. Save for the slight bump in RAM, the hardware setup is the same as in Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

First up is the CPU-centric Geekbench 3 test. Rather unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ performed right in line with the Samsung Galaxy S6 family.

Thanks to the increase in RAM memory, Samsung Galaxy Note5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ posted eye-popping results in the compound Basemark OS II benchmark. Single-core and multi-core scores on the other hand, were in line with those of the Samsung Galaxy S6 lineup.
