Twitch Will Never Beat ‘Dark Souls,’ But The Attempt Is A Glorious Trainwreck

Last year, Twitch chat garnered attention for something besides being a stream of consciousness feed of idiocy and memes. Users banded together to use chat to beat the original Pokemon, inputting commands in a lengthy stream, crawling their way through the game one painful step at a time. It took them 16 days, but in the end, they were victorious.

Google takes Android One to Africa with the $87 Infinix Hot 2

Today Google has announced that the Android One program has entered a new continent: Africa. So far, the company’s affordable smartphone initiative has been contained to certain Asian markets.

However, with the Infinix Hot 2 handset, Android One will debut in Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Egypt, and Morocco. These countries have combined populations of 379 million people. Infinix, Google’s partner this time around, is apparently “one of the hottest, fastest growing smartphone brands in Africa”.

The Infinix Hot 2 comes with a 5-inch 720p touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP selfie snapper, a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 16GB of storage, dual-SIM support, an FM radio, and a 2,200 mAh battery. There’s a version with 1GB of RAM, and this is offered in black, white, red, or blue, and another with 2GB of RAM, which is only out in gold.

The smartphone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop from the get-go, and it’s also guaranteed to receive an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow at some point in the future.

The Hot 2 is available today in Nigeria for NGN 17,500 (with 1GB of RAM) or NGN 19,500 (with 2GB of RAM). These prices currently translate into $87 and $97, respectively (or €79 and €88). The device will make its way to the other African countries mentioned above “over the next few weeks”, presumably with similar pricing.

Google Hangouts Now Has Its Own Website

Google has launched a dedicated website for Hangouts, a communication platform for instant messaging, voice and video calls. This will be handy for active users that were looking for another way to use Hangouts without having to log in to Gmail, Google+ or the Google Chrome Hangouts extension. The URL for the standalone Google Hangouts website is hangouts.google.com.
Through the Google Hangouts website, you can message a friend or start group chats. You can add up to 100 people in a group chat, which also supports photos, maps, stickers, GIFs and emoji. The Hangouts website makes it very easy to set up video calls too. For video calls, you can talk one-on-one or set up a group call with up to 10 people. Your Google Hangouts chats also sync between your mobile devices so you can continue your conversations on the Hangouts Android, iOS and web applications.

‘Destiny’ Is Now Drowning In Gjallarhorns, Proving A Big Nerf Is Needed

Last Friday, the Destiny community went a bit crazy because the game’s weekend traveling salesman, Xur, showed up with one particular gun in his arsenal. That would be the Gjallarhorn, a rocket launcher universally regarded as the best weapon in the game, the object of eternal desire for players who don’t have it, and one that’s inseparable from those that do.
