A possible solution to new saplings without new biome

Hello!

New trees are always nice, but they require devs to add a new biome with them inside. A possible solution would be to have some kind of mutation. Here me out:

  • Breaking leaves from a regular birch tree could have a tiny chance to drop a yellow/orange-leaved birch sapling.

  • Breaking spruce leaves could sometimes drop a sapling for a more reddish variation of this specie.

Then there is potentially trading with villagers. What do you think?

New player not sure what to do via /r/Minecraft

New player not sure what to do

Me and my girlfriend have just started getting into Minecraft, I host a server on my PC that we both connect to, we started off fine, built our house in the side of a cave, dug down loads, got some iron and coal. Somehow ended up with an enderman living in the house with us. Built some iron armor for the both of us and am now working on making a farm.

But I'm not sure what to do next, Im not sure what there even is to do next. I know there's the end, but I don't know how to get there and I'm assuming by the name of it you can't just make a house, get some armor and then go to the end?

What's the next step?

FYI: Use an axe and shield if you’re going to melee a skeleton. via /r/Minecraft

FYI: Use an axe and shield if you’re going to melee a skeleton.

It seems I've seen way too many UHC players attack a skeleton with a sword and shield, often getting hit in the process. They often even have an axe in the hotbar, but ignore it. A stone axe does 9 damage, while an iron sword does 6. The recharge time is higher with the axe, but you spend that time defending with the shield, so it doesn't matter! Kill that skelly with faster with an axe!
