Apple acknowledges issue with iPhone 6s battery percentage indicator

There seems to be an issue with the battery indicator on the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, which prevents the battery indicator from reducing proportionately with the actual charge of the battery, thereby suggesting you have more power left than you actually do.

Apple is aware of the problem and has suggested a simple fix for it. It seems the issue is caused by the device time settings, so moving between timezones causes the battery meter to malfunction. The fix is to either restart the phone or check if the clock is set to update automatically through the settings.

A more permanent fix should be rolled out in the next iOS…

Xiaomi undoubtedly takes the cake this week with a pair of intriguing new devices. Both the Xiaomi Redmi 3 and the Redmi Note 3 are spectacular offers, mainly for their excellent value. With a 5″ display, Snapdragon 616 SoC, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP camera among other things, the former is priced at an almost unbelievable RMB 699 (around $105 at current exchange rates).

The Redmi Note 3 ups the game quite a bit, providing a 5.5-inch FullHD display, up to 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 650 (former 618) chip. The device is not entirely new, but it does come with a more powerful SoC, integrated X8 LTE with Cat 7 speeds and support for VoLTE and also sells for the spectacularly affordable $151 for the base model.

To finish off Xiaomi’s presence in the news this week, there are a number of new rumors, including images and a full set of specs now available for the company’s upcoming flagship – the Xiaomi Mi 5. Then there is the Lenovo A7000, which was launched in India with high hopes to build on the whopping success of its predecessor and the K4 Note, which was spotted at retailers in Saudi Arabia. Weekend poll: Huawei Nexus 6P, LG V10 or Samsung Galaxy Note5?

For the trio of 5.7″ phablets – Huawei Nexus 6P, LG V10 and Samsung Galaxy Note5 – we asked your unbiased opinion on their camera performance with a blind shootout. We also shared our thoughts of the three flagships.

Now it’s time to pick the Reader’s Favorite. Is it the LG V10 with its excellent camera? The Galaxy Note5 with its screen and battery? Or the Nexus 6P with its premium build and stock Android?

Keep in mind the V10 didn’t do so hot in the benchmarks and battery tests. And the Note5 camera was behind the LG, its chipset behind the Nexus. The Nexus 6P itself did well all-round, but its screen calibration is off and the camera didn’t always deliver.

You have until next weekend to make up your mind. By the way, we’re working on the next trio of large-screened phones so the choice of best phablet will just get more…

Top 10 trending phones of week 2

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has finally met its match. The long-standing champion has been dethroned by the Lenovo K4 Note, whose rise to the top took only 2 weeks.

And for the first time in a long while the Galaxy J7 is the only J-series Samsung on the podium – the J5 has been pushed off by the newly-launched Xiaomi Redmi 3.

The Galaxy S6 has kept its 5th spot from last week, but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is dangerously close, so nothing’s guaranteed for next week. The occasional podium finisher Galaxy J2 has slipped yet another spot compared to week 1, and is now in 7th. A similar faith has been shared by the Galaxy Grand Prime, which we find in 8th this week.

The Apple iPhone 5s, which we thought was a one-off entry last week, seems to be here to stay, occupying the same 9th position. The Galaxy Note5 is the last to make the chart, with the Galaxy A5 giving it a hard time, but not hard enough.
