Cybersecurity firm Darktrace plans £3bn IPO on London Stock Exchange

Cambridge-based company claims to be first to use AI to detect cybersecurity threats on a large scale

The cybersecurity firm Darktrace has announced plans to float on the London Stock Exchange, in a move that will reportedly value the Cambridge-based company at £3bn.

It is the first big company to have chosen the City for its initial public offering (IPO) since Deliveroo’s disappointing stock market debut last month.

Messaging / Smishing Attacks

Cyber attackers can just as easily trick or fool you in messaging apps as they can in email. Be on the look-out for scams or attacks via apps such as Slack, Skype, WhatsApp or event simple text messaging. The most common clues are tremendous sense of urgency or curiosity.

Two Home Computers

If possible, have two computers at home — one for parents and one for kids. This way they can’t accidently infect your computer. If you are sharing a computer, make sure you have separate accounts for everyone and that kids do not have privileged access.

Kids and Education

One of the most effective methods you can use to protect kids online is to talk to them. The younger you start talking to them, and they to you, the better. Hold regular conversations about online safety issues. If you don’t know what your kids are doing or where to start, simply ask. Play the clueless parent and ask them to show you what the latest technologies are and how they use them. Quite often, kids love the idea of being the teacher and will open up.
