La Administración Nacional de la Aeronáutica y del Espacio (NASA, por sus siglas en inglés) lanzó una serie de imágenes que abarcan 20 años de observación de la Tierra.
Los instrumentos a bordo de los satélites Terra y Aqua de la NASA, lanzados en 1999 y 2002, de forma respectiva, fueron los encargados de realizar las fotografías del planeta azul.
Las imágenes globales podrán ser examinadas de manera interactiva, rápida y sencilla con un ordenador doméstico, explicó la NASA.

“En los años 80 y 90, si querías ver las nubes frente a las costas de California, tenías que averiguar la época del año en la que era mejor mirar estas nubes”, dijo el miembro del Earth Sciences de Goddard de la NASA en la Universidad Estatal Morgan, Baltimore, Santiago Gassó.
“Después hacer una solicitud de datos para una ventana específica de días en que creías que el satélite sobrevolaba el área. Obtenías una cinta física con estas imágenes y tenías que poner esto en el sistema de procesamiento”, apuntó.
El científico detalló que dicho proceso solía tardar días o semanas, por lo que encontrarlas en cuestión de minutos es valioso.
