Red Hat y Amazon integran RHEL y OpenShift en AWS
Así como ya se hizo con SUSE, Red Hat también quiere estar presente en la que es una de las plataformas número uno en cuanto a computación en la nube, hablo de los servicios web de Amazon, más conocidos con las siglas AWS (Amazon Web Service). Sí, el gigante de la venta online también ha querido entrar de lleno en este negocio de la nube y lredo ha hecho por todo lo alto, compitiendo al mismo nivel que sus dos inmediatos competidores, Microsoft con Azure y Google Cloud Platform.
El trabajo conjunto de Red Hat y Amazon ha sido básicamente para integrar la famosa distribución empresarial RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) dentro de los servicios ofrecidos desde la plataforma AWS, además del proyecto OpenShift. Así ambos se fortalecen, Amazon con la inclusión de este nuevo y potente sistema operativo al servicio de sus clientes y Red Hat integrando sus productos en una plataforma cloud computing tan inmensa e importante como de la que hablamos…
Sin duda buenas noticias, además, OpenShift también será integrado como he dicho en el párrafo anterior. Para los que no conozcan qué es el proyecto OpenShift de Red Hat, decir que es un servicio de computación en la nube donde los desarrolladores pueden usar Git para desplegar aplicaciones web en diferentes lenguajes soportados por la plataforma, e incluso binarios. Sin duda una buena herramienta para desplegar las apps en la nube, como hemos visto con otros proyectos.
Tanto los dirigentes de Red Hat como los de Amazon han expresado su satisfacción por la unión de ambos titanes tecnológicos. La empresa que fundó aquel descendiente de españoles y que comenzó siendo una simple tienda online, es hoy uno de los mayores servicios de compra y venta de la red y eso les permite introducirse en otros campos tecnológicos como lo han hecho con la fuerte apuesta por la nube, llegando a ser líderes en este sentido a pesar de la dura competencia.
