You should be able to shift click stacks of items from the recipe book.
The only use I can find for the new book is making dispensers quickly. I was really hoping that I could use this to quickly block some of the Iron/Gold/Coal I have but making 1 block at a time is 100 times slower than just placing stacks into the table manually which is kinda disappointing.
