Salió Sabayon 16.11 con Kernel Linux 4.8

En el día de hoy, ha salido el sistema operativo Sabayon en su versión 16.11, una versión que viene con el Kernel Linux 4.8 instalado en la misma y que ya está disponible para su descarga.

Esta distribución está basada en Gentoo pero con ciertas modificaciones. Una de ellas es la inclusión del formato de actualizaciones rolling release, un formato de actualizaciones que consiste en ir actualizando el sistema operativo poco a poco, en pequeñas actualizaciones mes a mes en vez de realizar grandes actualizaciones cada mucho tiempo.

Los escritorios que lleva el sistema operativo Sabayon son a elegir entre KDE y Gnome en sus últimas versiones como escritorio más importantes. Sin embargo,también se le pueden instalar otro tipo de escritorios más livianos, como Xfce o MATE por ejemplo.

Entre las novedades de esta última actualización, tenemos la inclusión de una nueva compatibilidad con arquitecturas ARM, permitiendo que lo podamos instalar en microplacas como por ejemplo la Banana Pi u Ordroid. De esta manera, vamos a poder disfrutar de este sistema operativo en casi todos los dispositivos.

También se ha actualizado el Kernel a la versión 4.8 y se han incluido actualizaciones en escritorios como KDE Plasma y Gnome, incluyendo además la corrección de bugs habitual que se hace en cada actualización.

Este sistema operativo está disponible en una versión de escritorio estándar, en una versión de servidor minimalista que tiene lo justo para arrancar y finalmente en una versión en la nube que nos permitirá ejecutarlo sin hacer ningún tipo de instalación.

En definitiva, estamos ante una distribución un tanto diferente que sin duda no dejará indiferente a nadie, dando un toque más fresco a Gentoo y proporcionando mayor estabilidad gracias al método de actualizaciones Rolling Release.
