A Look At The Paid Music Streaming Market In The U.S.

With the emergence of affordable subscription fees and the growing divergence of free and paid content on music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Sirius XM and Pandora, it seems clear that the music streaming market is moving towards paid services going forward. It even seems possible that free (i.e., supported only by ad payments) music could eventually die out. While Spotify’s initial stance was to offer content uniformly across paid and free tiers, it is now considering making new music releases exclusive to its paid services. Pandora, which has traditionally been a free service, recently announced the availability of an on-demand music service with subscription fees to better absorb its burgeoning content costs.

For anyone that knows their anime and videogames, then Yoshitaka Amano should be a well-known name. Having penned artwork for the Final Fantasy series of games and done character designs on anime like Science Team Gatchaman, his breadth of work is impressive. So delving into his creative output is often daunting for newcomers but thankfully, this new book does a marvelous job at making such an introduction.
