Powershell de Microsoft llega a Gnu/Linux

Si bien en el mes de abril nos enterábamos de que Microsoft implantaba la bash de Ubuntu en Windows 10, hoy nos hemos enterado de que Powershell, la famosa consola o terminal de Microsoft y Windows, estará disponible para Gnu/Linux, de tal manera que los usuarios que quieran trabajar con esta herramienta de Microsoft lo puedan hacer sin tener molestias por cambiar de sistema operativo. Por el momento Powershell está en modo desarrollo pero ya existe alguna versión para poder instalar y probar en Gnu/Linux.

Microsoft, tal y como cuenta en el blog de Azure, cree en Linux y en la cooperación entre ambos sistemas operativos, siendo más plausible el trabajo con herramientas multiplataforma. Es por ello que ha decidido portar Powershell a Gnu/linux, aunque no a todo el Gnu/linux sino a las distribuciones más populares del mundo servidor, al menos por el momento. Así, Powershell tendrá un paquete y/o repositorio para Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat y Debian. Aunque al final, cualquier usuario que quiera podrá tener Powershell en su distribución Gnu/linux sin mayor problema.

Microsoft ha utilizado su tecnología .Net Core, una versión libre de .Net, algo que ha hecho posible que Powershell sea portado a Linux. Cualquier usuario que lo desee puede conseguir el código y las versiones creadas a través del repositorio GitHub que se ha creado para ello, algo que recomendamos usar o probar en una máquina virtual pues PowerShell aún está en versión beta o alpha y puede afectar directamente a nuestro sistema.

Personalmente creo que Microsoft está acercándose mucho a Gnu/Linux, sobretodo por su éxito en el mundo de los negocios. Pero su realidad es bastante peculiar. Según Microsoft, cada vez son más los usuarios que usan varios sistemas operativos, pero este hecho se debe precisamente a lo restrictivo que es Windows y no por Gnu/Linux. En cualquier caso, si se pasan todas las herramientas de un sistema operativo a otro, será cuestión de tiempo que todos los usuarios usemos Gnu/Linux. Aunque ¿ qué distribución usaremos?

Nokia Is Looking To Revive Its Phone Brand

After announcing earlier this year that it had formed a company based in Finland called HMD to create Nokia- branded mobile phones and tablets, Nokia is now putting the pieces together to revive its mobile phone business. HMD recently hired Pekka Rantala, a Nokia veteran and most recently the CEO to Rovivo (maker of the popular game Angry Birds) as its Chief Marketing Officer. Prior to the emergence of the smart phone, Nokia was the leading brand in the mobile phone market. But now the company now faces tough competition from Apple’s iPhone and Android phones including the Samsung Galaxy. We believe that, as the company looks to re-enter this market, a strong management team including Nokia veterans will be critical for the success of this division.
