Galaxy S7 Edge Rides To Samsung’s Rescue

In the week before the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phablet, the South Korean company has announced its Q2 2016 earnings report. Crucially, year on year revenue was up five percent, profit up eighteen percent, and that turnaround has been driven by strong sales of the Galaxy S7 family of devices (primarily the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge).

A 2,850 personas les tocará el recorte de personal de Microsoft

Al 4% de la fuerza laboral de Microsoft Corp le tocará recorte de personal.

El gigante tecnológico dio a conocer este jueves que durante los próximos 12 meses eliminará 2,850 empleos, con lo que el total de despidos se elevará a 4,700.

En mayo pasado, la compañía indicó que recortaría 1,850 puestos de trabajo de su negocio de teléfonos inteligentes, la mayoría de ellos en Finlandia.

Hasta el 30 de junio la empresa tenía alrededor de 114,000 trabajadores de tiempo completo.

En 2014, Microsoft compró al fabricante de teléfonos Nokia, con sede en Finlandia, en un fallido intento por cometir con Apple Inc y Samsung Electronics, pero en mayo pasado la compañía dio a conocer la venta de todo su negocio de teléfonos a FIH Mobile, subsidiaria de Foxconn.

Durante el segundo trimestre del año, Microsoft Corp reportó un alza del 2.1% en sus ventas gracias al crecimiento de su negocio de almacenamiento virtual.
