I am of course referring to Kunio Okawara and I was lucky enough to meet with him recently at his studio and find out more about the work he does.

Elon Musk abre las puertas a la fábrica gigante de Tesla

En el desierto, justo después de Electric Avenue al este de Sparks, Nevada, poco más de 1,000 trabajadores construyen lo que será el edificio más grande del mundo en términos de su huella en la tierra.

Esta es la Gigafactory, donde Tesla planea construir suficientes baterías de iones de litio para volver populares a sus vehículos. Medirá cerca de 5.8 millones de pies cuadrados, poco más de 53 hectáreas, cuando esté terminado en el 2020.

Tesla cree que la adopción de vehículos eléctricos se ha dificultado por el alto costo de baterías de litio, así que planea usar esta fábrica para incrementar la producción drásticamente.

La fábrica cuenta actualmente con casi 200,000 metros cuadrados, 18.5 hectáreas de espacio en varios pisos, y la estructura sólo está completa a un 14%.
