Solus pasa a ser una distro rolling release

Solus es una distro bastante interesante y de la cual nos hemos encargado en multitud de ocasiones aquí en Linux Adictos, ya que se destaca por un escritorio como Budgie que ha tomado a GNOME como punto de partida pero que ha logrado ser mucho más ágil y liviano. Pero en las últimas horas esta distribución de GNU/Linux ha vuelto a ser noticia por una novedad por cierto importante como ha sido el anuncio de su desarrollador principal, Ikey Doherty, respecto a que Solus pasará a ser una distro rolling release.

Este tipo de distribuciones se diferencia de las más clásicas como Ubuntu o Debian, que tienen fecha de lanzamiento, y en lugar de ello se actualizan de manera casi permanente. Se trata sin dudas de algo que puede ser bastante demandante en cuestiones de seguridad y de la forma en que las actualizaciones son integradas, pero el hecho de no tener que convivir con una fecha de lanzamiento quita bastante presión a los desarrolladores, y eso suele ser muy bueno para que puedan trabajar en lo que mejor les sale: crear e innovar.

Así parece entenerlo el propio Doherty, quien asegura que a partir de ahora el y su equipo de desarrollo de Solus podrán dedicarse a añadir características nuevas a una mayor velocidad, y lo que es mejor aún es que podrán mantener esa velocidad de novedades en el tiempo. Y al parecer toda esta nueva forma de trabajo ya está trayendo beneficios puesto que la actualización que está por llegar, la última antes de comenzar con el esquema rolling release, traerá las herramientas de GCC 6.1.0, el servidor X.Org 1.18.4 y la capa de GNOME 3.20, junto con el escritorio Budgie 10.2.7, además de soporte total para encriptación de disco.

I headed to the brand-new Ultimate HD Golf that’s located inside an L.A. Fitness workout club in Mission Viejo. It’s an air-conditioned indoor course simulator that also accommodates lessons, clubfitting and driving range practice time. While there are plenty of sports bars, country clubs and even private residences across America with golf simulators, this is the only one I know of inside a health club.
