Galaxy S7: Speed Test Compares It To Other Smartphones

This month Samsung released the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. And the reviews are saying that the two smartphones represent Samsung’s best devices. There are features that make Samsung’s newest flagships superior to other smartphones that have been released over the last year, including its microSD card slot, wireless charging ability and IP68 water and dust resistance capabilities. But this article will be focused on the speediness of the devices.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge ships with either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or the Samsung Exynos 8890 — which are the fastest Android chipsets. The Samsung devices pack 4GB of RAM, meaning it is double the 2GB of RAM in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Even though the Samsung devices have very solid hardware, the software weighs it all down. As Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly says, Samsung TouchWiz “still lags and stutters.”
Kelly said that you will not notice the TouchWiz user interface lag initially, but the devices start slowing down substantially once you start downloading apps and surf the web. Kelly added that “scrolling is the biggest offender, particularly browsing the web but even occasionally in basic navigation such as scrolling through Flipboard (Samsung’s default replacement to Google Now) or settings menus.” Due to TouchWiz and other software optimization issues, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are not as fast as the newest iPhones that are built with previous generation hardware.
Fortunately, Samsung redesigned TouchWiz so it has a sharper design. And Samsung removed 1GB of bloatware from the Galaxy S6 upon launching the Galaxy S7. However, Samsung is still shipping its own proprietary apps that are similar to core Android apps. And there are about 50 preinstalled apps bundled with the Galaxy S7 devices — many of which cannot be removed. Kelly pointed out that there are two web browsers, two email clients, two photo apps, two app stores, three media players, two SMS apps and two voice control systems. And that does not include preinstalled apps added through partnerships with Microsoft and wireless carriers.
To gain a better understanding about how the Galaxy S7 compares to other smartphones, device expert Jerome Ortega posted this speed demo of how the Galaxy S7 Edge against the Moto X Pure Edition, the Google Nexus 6P and the Apple iPhone 6S Plus:

Automation Is Key To Better Online Security

Locks are great for safeguarding things from unauthorized access. Keys are necessary for allowing authorized people to open those locks. What happens, though, when there are so many locks, and so many keys that you lose track? What happens when those keys fall into the wrong hands, or can be easily duplicated? That is the dilemma facing Internet security and privacy today.
