The op-ed page of The New York Times has always been daily ritual, although admittedly the content that sticks with me over time is not the biting essay from columnists or contributors, but the Mobil Oil advertorials from years ago. There, in the bottom right corner of the world’s most famous forum for opinions, Mobil (and later Exxon Mobil) penned its corporate view in a premium, paid ad buy. Sure, I knew each mini-essay had a commercial intent, and looking back some seem to deny climate change, but even at just a quarter of a page, they were serious, well-written and somehow special in their surprising but relevant placement.

Surge un nuevo Xiaomi con pantalla de 4,3 pulgadas y chip Snapdragon 820

Si algo aprendimos de la presentación llevada a cabo por Hugo Barra sobre el Xiaomi Mi5 en el Mobile World Congress que se celebró en el mes de febrero en Barcelona, es que estamos ante un smartphone que rinde excelentemente bien. La razón para ello es muy clara: su potente chip Snapdragon 820 de Qualcomm.

Y es este el mismo chip que aparece en un smartphone Android desconocido desde Weibo y que tiene también una pantalla de 4,3 pulgadas que nos llevaría ante un smartphone que podría competir contra el iPhone SE en lo referente al tamaño y rendimiento, aunque a un precio menor lo que puede suponer una gran ventaja para Xiaomi.

Así que poco hemos tardado en conocer las intenciones por parte de Xiaomi al seguir esa tendencia marcada por Apple y la vuelva a esas 4 pulgadas en la pantalla para teléfonos más pequeños, cuando ahora la norma es lanzarse hacia las más de 5 pulgadas.

En lo referente a la entrada lanzada desde Wiebo, el dispositivo se ha denominado internamente como Xiaomi M2 SE y tiene en la pantalla 4,3 pulgadas HD. Su mayor cualidad es su chip Snapdragon 820 de Qualcomm, aunque tampoco podemos olvidarnos de sus 3 GB de memoria RAM y 32 GB de almacenamiento interno. El otro punto sorprendente es el botón home físico que podría albergar al sensor de huella dactilar.

En lo referente al diseño el teléfono se parece al Mi 5 y entre otras características se incluyen al mencionado sensor de huella dactilar y lo que sería una cámara de 13 MP con OIS.

Sus especificaciones rumoreadas:

  • Pantalla de 4,3 pulgadas (720p) HD
  • Chip Snapdragon 820 a una velocidad de reloj de 1.8 Ghz
  • 3 GB de memoria RAM
  • 32 GB de memoria interna
  • Sensor de huella dactilar
  • Cámara trasera de 13 megapíxeles con cámara con OIS
  • Batería de 2.350 mAh con Quick Charge 3.0

Este nuevo y misterioso Xiaomi M2 SE estaría preparado para ser lanzado en el mes de junio por un precio aproximado al cambio de 276 dólares.

LeTV Le2 with Helio X25 benchmarked – a 5.5″ phablet

The MediaTek Helio X25 was supposed to be exclusive to Meizu, but results spotted in GFXBench show it’s used by the LeTV LeEco Le 2 too (it may seem like a meme-y name, but the LeEco brand is actually pretty big in China).

The phone is a 5.5″ phablet with a 1080p screen, according to the benchmark. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
