‘The Division:’ 5 Tips For Surviving In The Dark Zone

The Division is in the wild, and if you’re like me, you’ve spent most of your time playing in The Dark Zone. Ubisoft’s blended PvP/PvE area is by far the best part of the game, even if it can be a little bit intimidating at first. But don’t be afraid! There’s lots of fun to be had in The Dark Zone if you find a group and start hunting, and luckily the matchmaking is robust enough that you should be able to satisfy that first part. But it’s a dangerous place. Here are a few tips for making it out alive.

‘The Division’ Review, Day 3: The Long Haul

I tried to split my time fairly equally on my third day of playing The Division. For the first part of the day, I played the main game, building my base, grinding out experience, helping the citizenry of New York with all of the wacky scrapes they get into, and of course, shooting loads of people. It’s an experience that I’d call fine: I’m into the rhythm of the game now, and like any MMO, there’s something satisfying about just plugging away through the content, leveling up and grabbing new gear. I’ve enjoyed the missing persons missions in particular: I always like when games give you hints of a hidden past, and the “echoes” through which those stories are told do so perfectly. Still, I’ve gotten to a point where the story missions are too far apart to play consecutively, however, which is a bit frustrating. They tend to be much more engaging and less repetitive than the main missions, with some great environments, real challenge, and the hint of a story. Shame, then, that I had to spend my time with side missions and “encounters” instead.
