Ya os lo hemos dicho en más de una ocasión, ¡nos encanta regalar teléfonos móviles! En esta ocasión sorteamos en Andro4all y Urban Tecno, el canal de tecnología de Difoosion –sólo en España por esta vez– un Weimei We Plus, un dispositivo con un gran diseño gracias a su fabricación en metal y su peso equilibrado. Es decir, un smartphone que en la mano se siente muy premium y que no tiene nada que envidiar a otros dispositivos de gama alta.

En su interior un procesador de 8 núcleos, con 3 GB de memoria RAM y 32 GB de memoria de almacenamiento ampliables mediante microSD, además de una cifra de 3.150 mAh de batería. Un teléfono muy equilibrado, con unas especificaciones bastante interesantes que son más que suficientes para la gran mayoría de usuarios Android.

Respecto a su pantalla, un panel de 5,5 pulgadas y con una resolución HD. Pese a echar de menos una posible resolución Full HD, la pantalla se ve realmente bien gracias a la tecnología Super Amoled. Entrando en el apartado fotográfico, cámara trasera de 13 megapíxeles fabricada por Samsung, una cámara que tiene mucho potencial, gracias en parte a la más que interesante aplicación de cámara con la que viene incorporada el terminal.

También nos encontramos con Android 5.1 Lollipop personalizado, sin box de aplicaciones, algo a lo que por cierto cada vez más fabricantes se están apuntado. Cabe mencionar también la inclusión de USB tipo C, la conectividad física más moderna hasta la fecha en teléfonos móviles.

Save the date: Huawei P9 coming on April 6

Huawei sent out “save the date” notes to the press, promising to “Change the way you see the world” on April 6. It doesn’t take much to guess that this will be the Huawei P9 announcement.

The hashtag is pretty curious – #oo. Unless all rumors about the P9 so far are wrong, the phone will feature a dual camera setup, which can fairly accurately be rendered in ASCII art as oo.

We expect to see multiple versions of the P9, allegedly four in total. The mainstream model will have a 5.2″ screen and a Kirin 950 chipset, then there’s the P9max with a 6.2″ QHD+ screen, a P9lite isn’t out of the question either.

HTC USA slashes the One A9 price by $100, get it only today for $399

HTC One A9 – the company’s premium metal-clad mid-ranger – is now at a discounted price. HTC USA is selling the One A9 for $399 instead of the regular $499.

All One A9 models are available at the lower price – you can choose between the unlocked flavor, AT&T, T-Mobile, or Sprint. The paintjob options you can choose from are Carbon Gray, Opal Silver, Deep garnet, and Topaz Gold.

The $100 discount is valid only for today, and it’s applied once you add the One A9 to your shopping basket.

We May Be On The Verge of Forecasting Tornadoes Weeks In Advance

Spring is particularly conducive for tornadoes in many parts of the United States. At the time of writing, survey teams were investigating possible tornado damage in parts of Texas. Tornadoes remain one of the most elusive and fascinating phenomena in meteorology. They can literally change the lives of families and entire cities. It is why I have a healthy dose of respect and fear of them. I don’t cheer for them. Scientists understand the general conditions that are conducive to the formation of tornadoes, but the lead time for warning for a specific tornado is still under 15 minutes. However, potentially breakthrough research published in the American Meteorological Society’s Monthly Weather Review by a team led by Dr. Victor Gensini of the College of Dupage offers the promise of forecasting tornadoes 2 to 3 weeks in advance. Sort of.  Dr. Gensini has forecasted above normal tornado activity in the United States through the first 3 weeks of March. How is this possible and what are the caveats? I decided to ask Dr. Gensini who happens to be a former doctoral student in our program at the University of Georgia (I was on his PhD committee). Here is my exclusive interview with him:
