¿Te imaginas poder navegar desde tu móvil sin apenas tiempos de carga? Ya es posible

Navegar por internet es algo que todos hacemos a diario, ya sea con nuestro ordenador o con nuestro dispositivo Android. A menudo, los tiempos de carga de distintas páginas web nos ponen de los nervios, y en ocasiones optamos por dejar de navegar o comprarnos un dispositivo mejor. Para variar, el gigante de Google vuelve al rescate con un nuevo proyecto que se tiene entre manos: AMP

AMP corresponde a las siglas de “Accelerated Mobile Pages”, es decir, un proyecto para acelerar el tiempo de carga de una web en un smartphone, independientemente de este. ¿La razón? AMP será una tecnología que se implementará en los servidores de estas webs, y no en los futuros móviles que puedan salir.

Adiós a los tiempos de carga de las webs con AMP

Hoy mismo, tal y como vemos en su web, AMP ya es una realidad. Por ejemplo, webs como The Washington Post o Buzzfeed ya están funcionando con él, y nosotros (Difosioon) pronto lo vamos a hacer, pero aún es muy pronto para determinar los resultados. Tal y como leemos en Voltaico, los usuarios no somos los únicos beneficiados, sino que Google también se lleva su parte. ¿Cómo funciona AMP?

Es muy fácil: todas las webs con AMP integrado almacenarán su contenido en la caché a través de su nube, de esta forma, toda la información estará contenida en un único lugar, donde Google irá a buscar sin dudarlo y sin tener que buscar en más de un servidor. En consecuencia, el tiempo de carga será instantáneo, en teoría.

Aún así, hay varias directrices a comentar, y es que Google ha prohibido la existencia de anuncios a pantalla completa, una norma destinada a los “bloqueadores de anuncios” como Adblock. Donde sí que Google sale ganando es en la navegación en sí: una navegación más cómoda y rápida hará que estemos más rato “surfeando” por la web, y como más tiempo, más publicidad vista, con la posibilidad de pulsar encima de ella, etc.

Por el momento, se trata de un proyecto muy verde pero prometedor. A la espera de nueva información y resultados, puedes consultar la web oficial del proyecto, donde se explica de manera más extensa en qué consiste AMP e incluso donde puedes encontrar el código del proyecto en un repositorio de GitHub.

Facebook’s new Like button reactions are rolling out to a device near you

If you are or have ever been on Facebook (let’s face it, who hasn’t) then you surely know of the pivotal Like button – the perfect millisecond gesture for expressing anything from acknowledgement to plain out mockery, while remaining perfectly vague to confuse mostly everybody involved.

Well, you are definitely not the only one in the know about this ambiguity and the social giant has finally decided to address it with a slew of various reaction icons to complement the good old thumbs up (but rest assured, it is still there … thank god). Actually, Facebook has been testing the new emoticons for quite some time in select places, Spain and Ireland to be exact, and now feels it has the perfect set of options to roll out globally.

The reactions include “love,” “haha,” “wow,” “sad,” and “angry” and come in the shape of new icons hidden away under the like button, so to say. What this means is that the Like button is still center stage, but if you long press it on mobile or hover on a PC, the other options will be revealed. So now you can be sympathetic to those all to common grim Facebook status updates without beeing too creepy (the new likes sadly don’t do anything to fix the innate awkwardness of such posts in the first place, but hey, we can’t be too nitpicky).

All in all, if you really don’t care about the Like button all that much, you probably won’t notice any difference in your feed, besides that the likes counter should now report on the number of “reacted” and there might be an informative pop-up or two to be had next time you open Facebook.
