Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4S comes in box that doubles as Google Cardboard

Virtual reality is still in its infancy, but we’re in a period of time where it’s about to blossom. With the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive coming soon and claiming to bring a new era of VR, we’re close to seeing the industry boom.

But Google Cardboard is currently a neat option for VR, and a cheap one at that. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4S will be released in 2016, and according to VentureBeat, the plastic box it ships in will double as a Google Cardboard-compatible VR headset. Though Cardboard headsets can be had for cheap, the fact that it’s included will allow people to learn about it and use it right out of the box… by using the box.

Google announces end of support for Flash ads

Though Flash played an incredibly important part in the evolution of the internet, all things must come to an end. The once revolutionary plugin is now bloated, slow, a resource hog, and most importantly, a security mess. Flash vulnerabilities seem to never stop popping up, and updates come constantly.

Google knows this, and has announced an official deadline for the end of Flash advertisements on its AdWords service. It won’t be happening all that soon though, as it may be difficult for companies to fully transition away from Flash. The end of Flash support for AdWords and DoubleClick Digital Marketing is June 30, and for Google Display Network and DoubleClick it’s January 2, 2017.

It may be far off, but it’s a very exciting change that will span quite a bit of the internet. The death of Flash will be a satisfying thing to witness, despite nostalgia making it a little bit sad. Are you guys excited for Flash to go away?

¡Sony sigue con vida! Presentará nuevos auriculares inteligentes Bluetooth en el MWC

Sony, la compañía tecnológica japonesa por excelencia, aún sigue con vida a pesar de que sus resultados financieros no son del todo favorecedores. Sin embargo, para demostrar que aún tiene mucho para ofrecer, desde hace semanas nos enteramos que tendrá una conferencia en el MWC 2016 en la cual se espera la presentación de algunas sorpresas.

Debido a que la presentación del Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact y Xperia Z5 Premium se llevó a cabo apenas en septiembre pasado durante la feria alemana IFA es poco probable que veamos la renovación del tope de gama de Sony. Sin embargo, no sucede lo mismo con los accesorios y wearables de los cuales se espera ver algunas sorpresas.

Evan Blass de nuevo al ataque con las filtraciones

Retomando el tema de las filtraciones que nos dejan conocer un poco sobre lo nuevo de Sony, de acuerdo a una publicación realizada por Evan Blass en su cuenta de Twitter, la compañía japonesa presentará en la próxima feria española de la tecnología móvil unos nuevos auriculares inteligentes Bluetooth, muy similares a lo presentado por Motorola hace algunos años con el Moto Hint.

Recordemos que este auricular Bluetooth de Motorola permite al usuario interacturar con su smartphone sin necesidad de usar las manos. Por ejemplo, es posible programar una alarma, obtener direcciones para llegar a algún destino, entre otras cosas, todo mediante los ya conocidos comandos de voz de Google Now.

Entonces, teniendo en cuenta el nivel de desarrollo que Motorola logró hace algún tiempo, es de esperar que Sony haya logrado ir un poco más allá con el desarrollo de estos nuevos auriculares catalogados como “inteligentes”. Realmente las implicaciones son extremadamente variadas, por no decir infinitas, sin embargo aún tendremos que ver el resultado del trabajo de Sony, antes de poder comenzar a idear.
