Verizon put a release today from MWC in Barcelona, Spain. Big Red has been working with a few companies to test the blazing fast speeds that 5G technologies can bring to customers.
Verizon has been working with other companies like Apple, Intel, Samsung, Nokia, Qualcomm, and Ericsson to develop components and technologies to incorporate 5G into reality. Verizon calls this group of companies its own “5G Technology Forum”.
Verizon plans to “.expand this testing significantly over the next several months.” and work closely with other large wireless companies in Asia to aid in reaching its 5G launch goal of 2017.
The video below shows the various technologies and testing scenarios used to test these new 5G speeds like testing in office and home settings, the latter of which had several TVs streaming 4K content through the 5G connection.
Verizon’s more recent experience with Fios Cable Internet over the last few years will surely aid in its own development of 5G wireless technologies.
This sure reminds us of Samsung’s original plan to launch 5G service in the year 2020 and cuts the estimated launch time by about 3 years thanks to the help of the other members of Verizon’s 5G Technology Forum.

Son muchas las cosas que nos podemos encontrar en El Mobile World Congress de Barcelona durante estos días, ya que no son sólo smartphones lo que se presenta, sino también un seguido de innovaciones en el mundo de la tecnología móvil, la robótica y el Internet de las cosas, entre otras muchas cuestiones.
Una de ellas son el propio hardware que conforman nuestros terminales, en concreto los procesadores. Hay varias marcas que trabajan en lanzar su mejor producto, como lo es Mediatek, una de las alternativas a los más costosos aunque efectivos Qualcomm. Dicha firma ha decidido lanzar en el congreso la nueva versión de el Helio P20.
Siempre echamos la mirada a la cantidad de batería que posee el dispositivo que estamos pensando en adquirir, pero es igual de importante saber cuánto consumen los componentes que lo forman. Ésto es la eficiencia de consumo, un trabajo imprescindible en una época en la que las baterías aún no dan tanto de sí.
En el caso del Mediatek Helio P20, cuenta con un 25% menor de consumo que su antecesor. Además, logra obtener un acceso a la memoria de forma mucho más rápida con el soporte para LPDDR4X, que posee un 70% más de ancho de banda y consume un 50% menos de energía. Cuenta con 8 núcleos que trabajan a 2.3GHz y posee una GPU Mali T880, que funciona a 900 Mhz.
En cuanto a la conectividad, tal y como conocemos por El Androide Libre, permite velocidades mucho más grandes de bajada (300 Mb/s) y de subida (50 Mb/s). También posee una mejora para la visualización de las imágenes y en la captura de las mismas gracias al procesador ISP.
Entre otras de las curiosidades presentadas por Mediatek se encuentra el sensor biométrico. No es la primera vez que hablamos sobre este tipo de tecnología, aunque si no sabéis de qué trata, sirve para dar muchísima información sobre el usuario, como por ejemplo las pulsaciones, presión sanguínea e incluso saturación del oxígeno.
Lo que ha hecho Mediatek es fabricar la herramienta para que las propias empresas decidan cuándo y dónde ponerlo, ya que no solo sirve para smartphones sino que también se podría colocar en otro tipo de wearables o ordenadores. La firma ha incluido un kit de desarrollo para que las empresas se puedan poner a trabajar con ello.
Aunque Mediatek posea una tecnología algo más limitada que las de otras compañías, es evidente que trabajan muy duro para ofrecer herramientas capaces de convencer a sus usuarios. ¿A vosotros que os parecen las novedades que han traído al MWC?

Samsung’s latest flagship has debuted, and the camera is a point of interest. The rear-facing camera is a mere 12-megapixel sensor, but it features a big aperture, large pixels, and optical image stabilization. This should make for great low-light photos, and Samsung’s own test at Mobile World Conference confirms this.
The above photos were taken together at one time in a very dim room, and the shot from the Galaxy S7 is far brighter than either the iPhone 6s or the Galaxy S6. It’s really impressive! However, there are a few variables that might be influencing this test.
First of all, the phone was mounted to a table, so this doesn’t show how good the optical image stabilization is, nor does it show how well the phone accounts for blur. The exposure might have also been set higher, but we don’t know that. Either way, the camera shows some real potential, but we’ll have to test it for ourselves to see how well it really performs.

HTC tuvo una presencia discreta en el Mobile World Congress que se lleva a cabo actualmente en Barcelona ya que solo presentó tres nuevos terminales de la familia Desire. De esta manera desilusionó a sus seguidores que esperaban la presentación de su nuevo estandarte, a pesar de que los rumores apuntan hacia un lanzamiento en abril próximo.
No obstante, las filtraciones vuelven a ser el pan de cada día y en esta ocasión una nueva fotografía revela parte del panel posterior de este nuevo terminal. En realidad no es mucho lo que se muestra en la imagen, pero es lo suficiente para que las especulaciones comiencen a surgir. La imagen a continuación.
Desde el sitio Techtastic llega esta nueva fotografía que revela un diseño que recuerda un poco al primer integrante de la familia One, el HTC One M7. Esto se debe al marco biselado que muestra el terminal y que le da un toque extra de elegancia, aunque no es como que lo necesite, ya que los terminales One de HTC siempre han sido reconocidos por su excelente porte.
Otro detalle que inmediatamente salta a la vista es, evidentemente, la gran cámara circular, de la cual se ha dicho que volverá a incorporar tecnología UltraPixel, que reposa justo en el centro de la parte superior del dispositivo. A su costado también nos encontramos con un flash LED de doble tono y lo que parece ser un nuevo sensor infrarrojo de auto-enfoque.
Como mencionamos al principio, los detalles que se aprecian en esta nueva imagen son escasos, pero bastan para comenzar con nuevos rumores sobre este terminal. Quizás el más común es el referente al aparente regreso al diseño biselado del marco, lo cual contradice anteriores rumores de que tendría una estética parecida al HTC One A9. Seguramente en próximas semanas tendremos más información gráfica para confirmar o desmentir esta nueva teoría.
