Estas son las compañías que más smartphones han vendido en 2015

Cada año aparecen nuevas cifras que colocan a uno u otro fabricante en la cima de las ventas de smartphones. Durante el pasado año se vendieron 403 millones de unidades, con un incremento del 9,7% con respecto al mismo período de 2014. Sin embargo, este ha sido el crecimiento menos significativo de ventas de dispositivos desde 2008. Durante 2015, en total, se vendieron 1.400 millones de unidades, lo que supuso un 14,4% más con respecto a 2014.

Esto es lo que hemos podido saber hoy según ha publicado la empresa de análisis Gartner. Samsung fue el principal vendedor de terminales móviles el último trimestre de 2015 y durante todo el año. En concreto, la empresa surcoreana vendió 83,4 millones de smartphones durante el último trimestre 2015, consiguiendo una cuota de mercado del 20,7%.

El segundo puesto fue para Apple, que se quedó con un 17,7% de la cuota de mercado. La empresa de Cupertino experimentó un ligero descenso con respecto al 20,4% del 2014. Los puestos tercero, cuarto y quinto se completaron con Huawei –con un 8%–, Lenovo –con un 5%– y Xiaomi –con un 4,5%–. De estos tres últimos, Huawei ha experimentado un crecimiento del 53% en ventas, el más notable de todos ellos.

Como ya se ha comentado, Samsung mantuvo el liderato todo el año, aunque su cuota de mercado anual quedó en un 22,5%, lo que significaba un descenso respecto al 24,7% de 2014. En cambio, la cuota de mercado de Apple subió hasta el 15,9%, lo que le dio el segundo puesto. Huawei, de nuevo, fue el mejor en cuanto a crecimiento de ventas.

En cuanto a qué sistema operativo fue el más vendido, Android sigue siendo el líder durante el último trimestre de 2015 con un 80% de la cuota de mercado. Esto supone un incremento del 4% con respecto al último trimestre de 2014, mientras que la cuota de mercado de iOS cayó del 20,4% al 17,7%.

Los datos recogidos por Gartner señalan que las ventas de Windows Phone bajaron a 4,3 millones de unidades durante el último trimestre de 2015, lo que supone que se queda con un 1,1% de la cuota de mercado. En la última posición queda BlackBerry, con una cuota de mercado cercana al cero.

LG G5 pre-registrations are now open

Just a day before it goes official, LG’s upcoming G5 flagship is now up for pre-registrations in the United States. Those signing-up will be among the first to know when the handset is available for purchase.

“The G5’s fast processing speed will make this phone ideal for the ultimate multi-tasker,” the pre-registration page says. “The G5 offers quick and easy access to all of your favorite apps and programs for when you need them most”

The device has already been the subject of endless rumors and leaks. Specs-wise, while Snapdragon 820 chipset has already been confirmed, rumors says it will feature a 5.6-inch QHD touchscreen, 4GB of RAM, as well as Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The phone is also said to come with dual-camera setup on the back, with a fingerprint sensor below…

BlackBerry Priv receives price cut in Canada

BlackBerry’s Android-powered Priv smartphone has received a price cut in Canada, where carrier Bell is currently selling the device for CAD 299.99 on a regular two-year contract.

Other local carriers like Rogers and Telus are currently selling the handset at higher rates. What’s worth mentioning here is that Sasktel is also offering the Priv for CAD 299.99 as part of a limited time offer but the listing reveals that the device is currently out of stock online.

For those interested in purchasing an unlocked unit instead, BlackBerry has the device listed on its website for CAD 899.

‘Sherlock’ Manga Is Finally Coming Westward

Oppo said to be unveiling next-gen VOOC tech at MWC 2016

We already told you that Oppo is expected to unveil a couple of big things at MWC, with one of them being a “groundbreaking power solution.” While Oppo hasn’t provided any more details as yet, it’s now being said that the company is planning to unveil the next-gen VOOC tech.

As you might already know, VOOC is a fast charging technology developed by Oppo that is claimed to be capable of charging the phone’s battery from zero to 75% in only 30 minutes. While the current VOOC technology works as a wired charging solution, the new report says Oppo could announce wireless VOOC flash charging at MWC.

This means that you’ll be able to take advantage of the technology by just placing your Oppo handset on a wireless charging board. Needless to say, this hasn’t been officially confirmed by the Chinese company, so take it with a pinch of salt. Oppo’s MWC press event is on February…
