Apple employees given incentive to sell more iPhones

According to sources from 9To5Mac, Apple store employees are being offered rewards for selling more iPhones. This period allegedly starts on February 21 through March 26.

This program will reward Apple reps rewards like all-expense trips to Cupertino for those who sell the highest number of iPhones in their regions. Though, strangely, Apple is calling it a way to “celebrate” the success of the iPhone.

If you go back to the dates from the first paragraph, this actually sounds a lot like the period of hype that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will stir up after MWC all the way until the phone launches.

Besides Apple’s numbers plateauing from the previous year’s financial reports, the company likely wants to power through the launch of the Galaxy S7 while raising its own number of phones sold for next year’s financial reports.

Motorola da comienzo a la temporada de Marshmallow en Argentina

Fue en septiembre pasado cuando Android Marshmallow fue presentado de manera oficial después de pasar primero por tres versiones de prueba, o Developer Previews. A pesar de que varios meses han pasado desde eso, muchos fabricantes aún no han actualizado sus terminales*, pero poco a poco se van poniendo al corriente.

En actualizaciones anteriores, Motorola, ahora propiedad de Lenovo, ha sido reconocida por ser uno de los fabricantes que más rápido se adapta a la nueva versión de Android. En esta ocasión se ha tardado un poco más de lo acostumbrado, pero poco a poco la actualización a Marshmallow ha comenzado a llegar a los terminales de la firma en todo el mundo. Hoy anunciamos la llegada de Android Marshmallow a Argentina.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Mediante un comunicado de prensa, Motorola Argentina ha anunciado que la esperada actualización a la sexta iteración de Android por fin comenzará a llegar a los terminales funcionando bajo las redes de telecomunicaciones del país sudamericano. De acuerdo al comunicado, los primeros terminales en recibir Marshmallow serán el Moto X 2da generación, el Moto X Play, y el Moto G de 3ra generación.

Posteriormente, el Moto G2da generación y el Moto E 2da generación con 4G también recibirán la actualización oficial. Si no quieres esperar a que la actualización llegue Over The Air, recuerda que ya te hemos contado cómo realizar la actualización manual del Moto G 2014.

Android Marshmallow y sus dulces novedades

Si Lollipop es conocida por dar a conocer un completo rediseño de Android, Marshmallow es reconocido por mejorar ampliamente el desempeño general de los terminales. Entre las novedades que Marshmallow trae se encuentran las siguientes:

  • Doze: Esta nueva función monitorea el terminal y lo pone en un estado de profundo reposo cuando no está siendo utilizado, lo que ayuda a extender considerablemente la duración de la batería.

  • Now on Tap: Se trata de la evolución natural de Google Now. Con solo mantener presionado el botón de inicio se activa esta función que ofrece información en base a lo que estemos haciendo en ese momento. Por ejemplo, si leemos un correo en donde se mencione el nombre de una película, al dejar presionado aparecerá información sobre la película e inclusive los horarios y cines en donde se esté proyectando.

  • Direct Share: Esta función nos permitirá compartir fotos, enlaces, y más con los contactos que quieras rápida y fácilmente.

  • Controles de volumen más simples: Una manera más intuitiva de controlar el volumen de los medios y tonos de llamada, alarmas, sonidos de notificaciones, entre otras cosas.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Permisos de aplicaciones

Como suele ser costumbre en estos casos, el despliegue de la actualización irá llegando de manera paulatina a todos los terminales en Argentina, así que no desesperéis que la actualización llegará cuando esté completamente lista.

DROID Ultra/Maxx/Mini won’t get Lollipop, Motorola offering discounts on newer DROIDs

We have some bad news for the owners of the Motorola DROID Ultra, Maxx, and Mini: The three devices will not be getting updates to Lollipop. If the end of support came today, that would be fine, but Lollipop is quite old and the devices never received it.

To ease the pain, Motorola is offering owners of the DROIDs discounts on a newer Motorola device. No better way to get over the pain of a poorly supported Verizon exclusive device than to buy another one, right? Current owners of the devices may purchase a DROID Turbo 2 for $100 off (down to $524) or a DROID Maxx 2 for $50 off (down to $334). Head to this site if you want to take Motorola up on that offer.

I can’t say that buying another DROID device is a great idea if you value support for updates. Motorola seems to be doing pretty well with its flagships, but the lower-end phones have suffered after the Lenovo buyout. Owners of the DROID Ultra/Maxx/Mini, will you be purchasing another Motorola phone?
