Huawei Mate 8 February security update rolling out

Huawei has started rolling out a new update to its Mate 8 flagship smartphone that includes Android security patch for the month of February. The update also brings along fixes to several issues, including those related to security, privilege escalation, and remote code execution.

If you are a Mate 8 owner, you should see an OTA update notification soon, if not already. However, if you’re feeling impatient, you can also check for the update manually by heading to your handset’s settings menu.

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL receives $100 price cut in US

The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL smartphone has received a price cut in the United States, where retailer B&H Photo is currently selling the flagship device for $529.95, which is $100 down from the handset’s usual price.

The discount is available on both Black and White variants of the phone. Microsoft is officially selling the device for $649, while other third party retailers like Amazon also have it listed for over $600.

What’s worth mentioning here is that B&H says there is “limited supply at this price,” so you’ll have to act fast if you want to take advantage of the deal.

Apple Pay officially launched in China

The Cupertino, CA Company successfully launched the mobile payment service just as planned for a February launch as reported back in November. Apple Pay is slowly but surely shaping up the mobile payments industry starting in October 2014 with the launch of the iPhone 6.

Apply Pay’s countries of availability include: the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, and newly added to the list: China.

Apple has its own work cut out for competing against other mobile payment companies that are already established in China, such as WeChat Payment and Alipay from Alibaba Group.
