Exynos version of the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) gets benchmarked

The upcoming 2016 refresh of Samsung’s Galaxy J7 has been caught in a benchmark’s database once before, and now it’s happened again. This time around however, we’re treated to the details of the Exynos version of the device, and from two different benchmarks no less – Geekbench and GFXBench.

Yes, it seems that like for its predecessor, the original J7, Samsung will once again release two models – one running its own Exynos chip, and another with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 on board.

Interestingly though, the Exynos SoC inside the J7 (2016) will be a new one, namely the Exynos 7870. This is probably going to be a successor of sorts to the Exynos 7580 found in the previous J7. It’s got an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at up to 1.7 GHz, at least in these two tests.

This iteration of the new J7 only has 2GB of RAM, and a 5.5-inch 720p touchscreen (the Snapdragon model apparently sports 3GB and 1080p resolution). The built-in storage is 16GB, and the main camera has 13 MP resolution while the selfie snapper is a 5 MP unit. The Exynos-powered Galaxy J7 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in the benchmarks, so there’s a chance it will actually launch with this version on board.

Android será el futuro de BlackBerry, adiós BB10

Fue durante el año pasado cuando BlackBerry decidió hacer lo por muchos impensable: lanzar el primer terminal con su firma corriendo con Android como sistema operativo, el BlackBerry PRIV. Este dispositivo del cual ya te hemos contado nuestras primeras impresiones, que es añorado por muchos y aborrecido por otros tantos, es tan solo la punta del iceberg de lo que BlackBerry planea.

Con la BlackBerry PRIV oficial y los rumores del BlackBerry Vienna circulando por el ecosistema tecnológico, era obvio pensar que la firma canadiense prepara un gran cambio en el sendero de la comercialización de dispositivos móviles. La confirmación no se hizo esperar mucho tiempo y ahora ya tenemos certeza de lo que la empresa de John Chen prepara.

Hasta siempre BB10, ¡larga vida al rey Android!

Fue en una entrevista realizada por el diario The Economic Times a Damian Tay, Director de gestión de producto de BlackBerry, que los planes del gigante canadiense se revelaron por completo. Tay señaló que el futuro de BlackBerry es Android, por lo tanto los futuros terminales correrán con el sistema operativo móvil de Google, dejando atrás a BlackBerry 10.

Sin embargo, este cambio será paulatino y a mediano plazo con tal de no dejar en el total olvido a los usuarios quienes aún hacen uso del sistema operativo original de la compañía. Este es sin duda un gesto que era de esperarse por parte de la compañía, pero que sirve como antesala para preparar a los usuarios a dar el salto definitivo a Android.

Pero, ¿por qué apostar totalmente por Android?

Todos amamos Android, ya sea en mayor o menor medida. Si estás aquí leyendo estas palabras es porque eres un seguidor de corazón de Andy, eso es seguro. Tay señala que esta elección se debe a la gran apuesta de aplicaciones que Android tiene en su ecosistema. Aunado a esto, se ha demostrado que la suite de aplicaciones de seguridad y cifrado de información de BlackBerry puede conjugarse para trabajar en perfecta armonía con Android, por lo cual la elección de dejar atrás BlackBerry 10 para abrazar completamente a Android tiene todo el sentido del mundo.

‘The Division’ Appears To Be Getting An Open Beta

Ubisoft is generating plenty of hype for its upcoming Tom Clancy MMO The Division via a closed beta this weekend, but if a screenshot from Xbox Italy is to be believed, we’ll be getting an open beta on February 16 for anyone that missed it this time around. Eurogamer managed to grab a capture of the leaky screenshot before Microsoft took it offline, but it certainly stands to reason. We’ve still got more than a month to go before release

No, this isn’t a joke. This is a real product, and it’s only as bad as you want it to be. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you a selfie stick that can rotate a full 360 degrees thanks to a motor and some buttons.

I’m not going to lie, I think selfie sticks are ridiculous. But they’re fun, especially with friends. And this is a motorized, rotational Bluetooth selfie stick… it’s both extra ridiculous and extra fun. At the very least, it gets people talking.

The Elivebuy selfie stick is quite simple. It has a control box above the padded handle that takes three AAA batteries and has three buttons. Two buttons control the rotation, and one is the Bluetooth remote easily connects to your device. It also has a tripod threaded hole at the bottom of its handle.

The head of the selfie stick features a soft rubber base and two arms. They can hold a device both vertically and horizontally, and pretty tight at that. It’s not all that easy to insert your device, but once it’s in, it stays in. The arms do a great job keeping your phone in place.

One cool feature of the Elivebuy’s selfie stick is the convex mirror on the back, which you can use after rotating the stick 180 degrees to take photos with your rear camera. It’s a small touch, but it’s nice.

If you’re in the market for a selfie stick, why not pick this one? I’m sure you can find a use for the rotational head. It allows some adjustment when it’s extended, and you can get yourself off center to fit some other subject in the shot. Yes, it’s kinda useless, but I had a surprising amount of fun with this thing. Just be prepared for your friends to roast you.

Bethesda Announces Another E3 Press Conference (But Don’t Expect ‘Elder Scrolls 6’)

Bethesda is coming back to E3. Some suspected that last year’s press conference was a one-off designed to build hype for Fallout 4, but the publisher seems to be looking to make itself a fixture on the E3 press conference circuit. The company announced that it will be holding its second E3 press conference on June 12th at 7:00 pm.
