Android distribution numbers released for January 2016

The Android distribution numbers for the new year are in, and Marshmallow is slowly growing. It’s still under 1% of all devices that checked into Google services because most manufacturers are being slow about the update. Nexus users are in the minority, as are Moto X users and the few other devices that have the pleasure of running this new OS.

KitKat still takes the majority at 36.1%, which is good because it’s not such an old version of Android and supports most features of the latest version. Lollipop is at 32.6%, slowly catching up. For more info, hit the source link!

Microsoft introduces new Xbox One bundles in celebration of the new 2016 year

Two new Xbox One bundles are joining the plethora of offers Microsoft has been building lately.

Throughout the 2015 we got some interesting bundles like the Xbox One 1TB Halo Limited Edition, Forza Motorsport 6 1TB Limited Edition, Xbox One Elite Bundle, 1TB Tomb Raider Bundle, Gears of War Ultimate Bundle, the Fallout 4 + Fallout 3 1TB Bundle, among others.

As of today Microsoft is adding two more bundles to its portfolio – the 1TB Xbox One Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Bundle, and the Xbox One 500GB Name Your Game Bundle. Both bundles comes with regular black-painted Xbox One consoles and black One controllers with 3.5mm audio jack.

The 1TB Xbox One Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Bundle, as the name suggests, comes with a 1TB Xbox One consoler, a retail copy of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, and codes for full-game downloads of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 – both courtesy of the Xbox One backward compatibility with Xbox 360 games.

The Rainbow Six Siege Bundle costs $399 and will be available in all official Xbox One regions except Belgium, China, France, Japan and Netherlands.

The Xbox One 500GB Name Your Game Bundle comes with a code, which will allow you to download one of the following games: Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition or Rare Replay. Upon entering it to the store you will be able to choose the game you prefer.

This bundle costs $349 and will start shipping later on January 12 in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand and the U.K. The US, Brazil, and Canada will get it in late January as well.

Letv Max Pro, el primer teléfono que montará el Qualcomm Snapdragon 820

El CES de Las Vegas por el momento no nos ha dejado importantes novedades aunque tampoco las esperábamos realmente. Pero si hay algo que sí que teníamos ganas de ver es la llegada del nuevo Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. El sucesor de la polémica versión 810 ha sido presentado hoy en un acto de la compañía y, a su vez, ha servido para conocer que el Letv Max Pro será el primer teléfono que lo usará.

Tenemos que remontarnos al pasado Mobile World Congress para poder conocer algunas de las novedades que allí se anunciaron que traería consigo el Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. Una de ellas, quizás la más interesantes por el concepto que presentaba, es la del sistema de autentificación mediante huella dactilar, puesto que va un paso más allá de lo visto hasta el momento.

El Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID es un sistema basado en los ultrasonidos. Esto permite que no dependamos de un botón para poder detectar la huella, sino que el teléfono emitirá ultrasonidos desde debajo de la pantalla y estos impactarán contra las yemas de nuestros dedos, reflejándose posteriormente de vuelta al teléfono. De esta forma, el lector será capaz de trazar una imagen en tres dimensiones de nuestros dedos, lo que llevará la seguridad un paso más allá, funcionando incluso con las manos mojadas.

Otra de las novedades que integrará el Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, y por consiguiente el Letv Max Pro, está en el campo de la conectividad. Pese a que aún en plena fase de implementación del estándar Wi-Fi 802.11n, lo cierto es que la tecnología ha seguido avanzando, pasando por el 802.11ac y llegando actualmente al 802.11ad.

La novedad de este último estándar es que se incluye una tercera banda de frecuencias sobre las que podrá trabajar el Wi-Fi, la de 60 GHz. Esto se traduce en una mayor velocidad, una mayor capacidad y cobertura, una latencia casi insignificante…

Poco más sabemos del Letv Max Pro, un teléfono que si bien ha servido hoy para mostrar al público el nuevo procesador, aún no ha sido presentado y no se han desvelado más detalles sobre él. Sin lugar a dudas, estaremos atentos a cualquier novedad por parte del fabricante chino, puesto que el teléfono tiene una pinta realmente impresionante.
