Microsoft Bing spotted showing network speed test results directly on search page

Microsoft’s search engine Bing is displaying network speed test results directly on the search page for some users. A user who spotted the functionality shared the screenshots revealing that the behaviour is consistent on both mobile as well as the Web.

There’s no official information on the feature, so it’s a bit difficult to say at this stage whether the Redmond, Washington-based company has quietly started rolling it out or is just currently testing it.

New alleged Mi 5 images (black variant) leak online

A couple of new images alleged to be of Xioami’s upcoming Mi 5 flagship smartphone have surfaced online. The images, which were posted on Weibo but have since been taken down, show the black-colored variant of the device.

This comes just a couple of weeks after new renders as well as a video featuring the Mi 5 leaked. The handset has already been the subject of several leaks and rumors until now.

The smartphone is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 SoC. Other rumored specs include 5.2″ QHD display, 4GB of RAM, 16MP/13MP camera combo, as well as a 3,600mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

Facebook blocks WhatsApp rival Hike Messenger’s ads

India based Hike Messenger has accused social media giant Facebook of blocking some of its advertisements. Specifically, those ads that allow people to visit Hike’s website were blocked, the app-based company alleged.

“Advertisers have, among other options, the option to ‘send people to your website’. A few weeks back we were suddenly blocked from using this option, while we were able to use other non action-led options,” a Hike spokesperson said.

When the WhatsApp-rival contacted Facebook, it received the following response: “There are specific products and services that cannot be advertised on Facebook – looks like Hike is one of these. Unfortunately, you will not be able to run these ads.”

BlackBerry’s Virtual Expert app now available for Priv, hits Google Play

BlackBerry has made its Virtual Expert app available to users of its Android-powered Priv smartphone. Carrying a version number of 1.3.8.31, the diagnostics app has been published on Google’s Play Store marketplace.

While the app has already been available on BlackBerry World, if you’re new to it, here is what its Google Play description reads, “This application is designed to help you identify the cause of symptoms that your BlackBerry device may exhibit or display. You will be guided through a series of hardware tests to produce a test results summary.”
