The rise of smartphones has been a major factor in the downfall of point-and-shoot cameras. As time has progressed, manufacturers have placed greater emphasis on smartphone cameras, not only in mainstream devices, but also in niche products. ASUS’s ZenFone Zoom is one of those niche products, packing an incredibly powerful camera. Now, more than a year after its debut, it will go on sale in February.
ASUS will be selling the ZenFone Zoom exclusively through B&H Photo. The device is priced at a fairly reasonable $399 and is currently available for pre-order. Orders are slated to begin shipping on February 1. If you’re unfamiliar with the ZenFone Zoom, it packs in a 13-megapixel PixelMaster sensor, 10-element Hoya lens, optical image stabilization, 3x optical zoom, laser autofocus and the option of fully manual camera controls.
Other specs include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage plus microSD card slot, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 3000mAh battery and LTE support. Unfortunately, the ZenFone Zoom is running Android 5.0 Lollipop, putting it behind the times in terms of software.

We are in the process of reviewing a variety of products from Choetech, like this Qi wireless charger, but if you need some USB Type-C chargers now, there are some good deals to be had on Choetech’s various USB Type-C offerings.
Critically, they have recently gotten the seal of approval from Google employee Benson Leung, who is on a mission to take down all hazardous USB Type-C cables.
Here’s a list of the deals available right now. Keep in mind that you do need to add the coupon code at checkout to get the deal:
We will be working on our own reviews of Choetech products moving forward, but for those of you like me with USB Type-C devices to charge right now, any discount that can help build up a collection of chargers and cables is precious.

In science when you get the answer you expect, you’re less likely to question it. Fortunately we have ways to overcome this confirmation bias so we can always test whether we’re fooling ourselves.

There are lots of people out there, who like me, believe that the big data party needs to stop and corporations need to get serious about big data with a bigger focus on ROI. Big data projects need to be held up to the same governance and be measured by the same criteria as other IT projects.
