iPhone 7 Plus again tipped to come with a dual-camera setup

September is still a long way off, but rumors regarding Cupertino’s next iPhone are already coming in hard. Apple analysts from KGI, like Ming-Chi Kuo have definitely proven a trustworthy source of information in the past and although they mostly deal with analytical results and speculations, predictions have often turned out true in the past. In a new memo to investors, Kuo talks of a dual rear camera setup for the iPhone 7 Plus, or at least a certain version of it.

Considering Apple’s track record for the past couple of years, we have every reason to believe that the company will release two variants of its handset, most-likely a 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and a 5.5-inch 7 Plus one.

The rumor for a dual rear iSight camera setup concerns the bigger iPhone 7 Plus model. According to Kuo, the handset will be available with an two CIS setup, most-likely powered by LinX – a company specializing in creating ultra-compact camera sensors for slim smartphones, acquired by Apple back in 2015. The alleged setup will include two 12 MP sensors, one with optical image stabilization and a wider field of view and the other, a 2-3x telephoto lens. OIS is definitely not a novelty, but optical zoom is a whole new uncharted territory for the iPhone.

The dual camera setup will surely allow for some pretty neat new features like variable focus and bokeh effects.

Ming-Chi Kuo also speculates that not all the iPhone 7 Plus models will have the dual-camera setup. The option will allegedly be offered at a premium which should help reduce the production strain for the new technology – a rather common occurrence with new Apple tech. He expects that about 25% to 35% of shipped iPhone 7 Plus units will have the extra feature. To be honest that seems very hard to believe as manufacturing two different Plus versions doesn’t sound like Apple at all and it will mostly likely be a case of all or none of the units get the feature….

Linux Mint 17.3 ya está disponible en Linux AIO, es decir, que se puede descargar una única imagen ISO con todos los sabores de Linux Mint dentro de ella

Tenemos una nueva distribución disponible dentro de la lista de distribuciones de Linux AIO(todo en uno), ésta vez se trata de la famosa distribución Linux Mint 17.3.

El proyecto Linux AIO no es un sistema operativo ni mucho menos, ya que únicamente lo que hacen es agrupar en un solo instalador todas los sabores o versiones de un sistema, lo cual crea mucha más comodidad a los usuarios que quieran probar todas las distribuciones de un sistema operativo pero no quieran andar teniendo un montón de instaladores de manera separada.

Como sabrás, Linux Mint 17.3 tiene un montón de sabores diferentes como pueden ser Cinnamon, Mate, Xfce y KDE,en los cuáles podemos tener una experiencia de usuario diferente en cada uno de los mismos ya que por ejemplo Xfce es para equipos de bajos recursos y KDE Plasma es el escritorio más llamativo visualmente hablando.

Linux Mint es un sistema operativo basado en el icónico Ubuntu,  pero con la diferencia de que es un sistema operativo mucho más amigable a los ojos del usuario. Por ésta razón, Linux Mint se ha convertido en el sistema operativo ideal para empezar en el mundo Linux y en uno de los sistemas favoritos de los usuarios.

Por éstas razones, es completamente genial que esté disponible Linux AIO para Linux Mint, ya que cuando eres principiante cuesta mucho saber con que escritorio vas a instalar el sistema operativo y es necesario probar todos los escritorios para ver cual te gusta más y cual va mejor con tu ordenador.

Si quieres descargarlo, hazlo desde éste Link, en el cual tenemos tanto la versión de 32 Bits como la de 64 Bits, estando ambas divididas en dos partes debido al enorme tamaño que ocupa la ISO por haber incluido todos los sabores.A la hora de la instalación, te aconsejo hacerlo mediante USB, ya que la imagen ocupa más de un DVD5 convencional.

¿Mejorará en un futuro próximo la autonomía de nuestros smartphones?

¿Es un sueño pensar que en un tiempo, podamos olvidarnos del cargador? ¿Que nuestro móvil dure semanas, con una sola carga? Imaginaos, mandar a tomar por saco los dichosos cargadores, y vivir sin miedo a que no nos llegue el teléfono al final del día. Pues bien, esto depende básicamente de las baterías.

Enchufados

Hoy en día el tema funciona así; nuestros smartphones reciben alimentación de baterías de litio, que duran más o menos dependiendo de la gestión energética del terminal, y de su carga, que se mide en miliamperios. El problema, es que para un mayor amperaje, se necesita mayor tamaño, y los móviles ya son bastante grandes.

Últimamente, se está experimentando con varias tecnologías que, según parece, mejorarán los resultados del litio, pero, avanza el tiempo, salen nuevos terminales al mercado, y, seguimos con las mismas.

Podría soltaros una parrafada sobre las diferentes ideas que han ido saliendo con el tiempo para solventar este problema; Baterías Li-air que hacen reacción con el oxígeno, experimentos con sulfuro, lo mismo pero con magnesio… Al final lo único que se puede sacar en claro es que no cambia nada, y, llamadme negativo si queréis, pero me da que estaremos igual mucho tiempo.

Soluciones colaterales

Donde sí se están haciendo avances, es en el apartado de la carga. Puede que nuestro móvil tenga la misma autonomía, pero si se carga en cuestión de minutos, menos da una piedra ¿no?

Incluso se habla de cargas super rápidas capaces de completar un ciclo en menos de 30 segundos. Seguiremos dependiendo de los odiosos cargadores, pero estaremos listos para seguir en marcha en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, además, personalmente (y no preguntéis porqué puesto que no sabría contestar), estas tecnologías si me inspiran confianza, y creo que las veremos antes de lo que creemos, o al menos, eso me gusta pensar.

Al final, solo queda esperar.

Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X get €80-€100 price cuts in Europe

If you’ve been looking at the Nexus price cuts across the pond with some envy, you’ll be pleased to hear Google brought them to Europe too.

The Huawei Nexus 6P is now €100 off, putting the base 32GB version at €550 (down from the salty €650), while the top-specced 128GB version is €700.

The LG Nexus 5X gets a €80 discount, so that the base 16GB version is €350 and the 32GB option is €400.

This is a limited-time promotion, not a permanent discount. It ends February 12, so you still have a couple of weeks to mull it over.

Note that the UK is getting a different deal – the Nexus 5X comes with a £20 Play Store credit and a free Chromecast. The 6P just gets 90 days of Play Music,

Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P discounted €80 and €100 in Europe

If you live and Europe and were planning to buy a new phone, we highly recommend checking out the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Between now and February 16, Google is offering a €80 discount on the Nexus 5X and a €100 discount on the larger Nexus 6P, regardless of the phone’s storage capacity. Those with money to spare could pick up the 128GB Nexus 6P for €749. If you’re on a tight budget, you can always get your hands on the 16GB Nexus 5X for €349.

Even with the discounted prices, both phones are still priced higher than they are in the US, but you do need to take into consideration that the listed price includes VAT (value added tax) which typically sits at about 20% in most European countries.
