Cada vez más fabricantes apuestan por teléfonos que no incluyen una ranura para tarjetas micro SD, un problema para muchos usuarios que ven limitada la capacidad de su teléfono debido al límite en el almacenamiento. Y aquí es donde entra SanDisk y su SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick, un dispositivo que permite ver archivos multimedia de forma inalámbrica.
Ya tuvimos la oportunidad de probar este interesante USB inalámbrico en la pasada edición de la IFA de Berlín, ahora os traemos un completo análisis en el que desgranamos todos los secretos del SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick.
Comenzaremos hablando del diseño del nuevo stick de SanDisk. La unidad está construida en un sólido policarbonato negro con un patrón de cubos 3D que dota al SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick de un toque moderno.
En el lateral derecho nos encontramos con el botón de encendido y una pequeña luz LED situada en la parte superior de la unidad nos indica que está funcionando. Por último en la parte inferior hay un pequeño lazo que nos permite colgar el dispositivo.
Con unas medidas de 7,62 cm de largo, 1,91 de ancho y 0,95 de largo, el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick es un USB cómodo y manejable. Si bien es cierto que es más grande que un USB convencional, como el SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0, si tenemos en cuenta que en tan reducido espacio han conseguido integrar la memoria interna del dispositivo, una antena Wi-Fi y la batería, hay que decir que el equipo de diseño de SanDisk ha realizado un trabajo excelente.
Ya hemos visto que el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick es una unidad con un diseño muy atractivo y robusto, demostrando que es un producto con unos muy buenos acabados. Pero, ¿es realmente útil? Ya os adelanto que las impresiones no podrían haber sido más positivas.
La gran diferencia entre el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick y otras unidades flash USB es su capacidad inalámbrica incorporada. Compatible con iOS y Android, el mecanismo para conectar el dispositivo a nuestro teléfono es realmente sencillo.
Al encender el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick la unidad creará una red Wi Fi a la que nos conectaremos. Podemos cambiar el nombre de la red e incluir una contraseña y destacar que puedes conectar el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick a tu red Wi Fi Local para poder seguir teniendo acceso a internet mientras estás conectado a la unidad flash de SanDisk.
Una vez nos hayamos conectado a la red Wi Fi creada por el dispositivo, tan solo nos faltará abrir la aplicación SanDisk, disponible en la tienda de aplicaciones de Google, para poder acceder a todos los archivos que hayan en el interior del USB.
Al iniciar la aplicación móvil nos encontraremos las carpetas en las que esté almacenado el contenido multimedia que previamente hayamos cargado a través de un ordenador. A la izquierda hay un menú desplegable que nos ofrece una serie de funciones, como conectar el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick a una red Wi Fi Local, realizar una copia de seguridad de la galería de imágenes de nuestro teléfono, descargas y los ajustes de la unidad USB.
Dentro de los ajustes podremos modificar algunos parámetros, como crear una contraseña, cambiar el nombre del Wi Fi de la unidad, activar el temporizador de ahorro para que pasado un determinado periodo de tiempo inactivo se apage de forma automática.En el lado superior izquierdo de la aplicación nos encontramos con otro desplegable que nos permite organizar las carpetas, cambiar la forma de verlas o crear una carpeta nueva.
Por último tenemos un gran botón rojo situado en la parte inferior de la app de SanDisk. Dando a este botón podremos seleccionar el contenido queremos transferir de nuestro teléfono al SanDisk Connect Wireless , permitiendo la transferencia de imágenes, vídeos, música o cualquier otro archivo.
Una vez seleccionados los archivos, no hay ningún límite pudiendo marcar todos los que queramos, solo nos faltará marcar la carpeta de destino, o crear una nueva. Me ha sorprendido la velocidad de transferencia que ofrece el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick. La conexión inalámbrica de la unidad permite que pasemos archivos pesados a una velocidad que casi iguala a la realizada a través de un puerto USB 2.0.
El gran punto fuerte del SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick es la posibilidad de visualizar contenidos multimedia, da igual que sean fotos o vídeos, de forma inalámbrica. Y el resultado ha sido más que satisfactorio.
Para empezar la unidad flash permite conectar hasta 3 dispositivos a la vez, independientemente de que sean iOS o Android. Y con cualquiera de estos teléfonos podremos acceder a la memoria del USB y disfrutar de los vídeos o fotos que hayamos cargado.
He probado abrir un vídeo con tres dispositivos diferentes y no he tenido ningún problema, la visualización era perfectamente fluida, sin apreciar corte alguno, incluso con vídeos en formato 1080p.
SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick ofrece una autonomía de hasta 4.5 horas. Evidentemente si tienes conectados más dispositivos la duración de la batería de este dispositivo se reduce, pero sigue siendo una autonomía más que suficiente, permitiendo ver una película completa sin ningún problema.
Un detalle muy interesante es el hecho de que si conectas el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick a un PC u ordenador portátil deja de transmitir datos, pero si cargamos el dispositivo utilizando una powerbank la unidad sigue transmitiendo datos, ampliando la vida útil de la batería, ideal para largos viajes o reuniones de trabajo en las que 4.5 horas, o menos si conectamos más dispositivos, puede antojarse algo corta. Además el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick se carga en tan solo 2 horas.
Mi experiencia tras probar el SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick ha sido muy positiva. Uno de los grandes problemas de mi querido HTC One M7 era la falta de una ranura para tarjetas micro SD que permitiera ampliar la memoria del dispositivo, por lo que considero este dispositivo un gadget imprescindible para cualquier usuario que sufra este mismo problema. Más si tenemos en cuenta que su precio apenas varía respecto al de una tarjeta Micro SD convencional.
La unidad que hemos probado es la de 32 GB, aunque SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick está disponible en Amazon con diferentes configuraciones con 16 GB( 32€), 32GB(40€), 64 GB(53€) y 128 GB(90€). ¿A qué esperas para comprar tu SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick?

The Tizen 2.4 update for the Samsung Z1 smartphone will start rolling out in a few days – around January 22. This was revealed by Jason Dongwon Kwak, Managing Director of the South Korean company’s R&D Institute in India.
Kwak also revealed that the update will bring along support for “SHAREit and WhatsApp voice call,” as well as many other features. These include Ultra Data Saving mode, enhanced messaging, and the ability to hide your personal messages and memo as well as record your voice along with your favorite songs. El equipo de desarrollo de Bodhi Linux ha lanzado una nueva versión de Moksha 0.2, un fork que han desarrollado basándose en Enlightenment, el famoso escritorio liviano. Sin embargo la nueva versión no se basará en E20 o E19 como cabe suponer sino que será un retroceso, en este caso se volverá a la versión E17.
Ya los desarrolladores anunciaron en el anuncio de su lanzamiento que Moksha nacía como una alternativa a Enlightenment y a su malos desarrollos en las últimas versiones. Así afirmaron que primero se basaría en E19 para luego intentar retroceder o mejorar la versión anterior. Pues parece que en este caso se ha conseguido y no sólo se han corregido bugs que existían en E17 sino también han incorporado algunas novedades como la eliminación de archivos .desktop para tener lanzadores en el escritorio o solucionado el problema de rendimiento del comando enlightenment_remote.
En cualquier caso parece que Moksha está teniendo un gran desarrollo y se prevé que tenga el mismo futuro que MATE, con la diferencia de que será Enlightenment y no Gnome. Los usuarios de Bodhi Linux ya disfrutan de esta nueva versión y poco a poco se lanzarán repositorios y versiones para distintas distribuciones que quieran utilizar Moksha 0.2 como escritorio por defecto.
E17 ha sido uno de los mejores escritorios no sólo por su liviandad sino también por su estética, elementos que están perdiéndose en las nuevas versiones pero que parece que se está recuperando en Moksha, algo que seguramente están viendo con buen ojo no sólo los usuarios de Bodhi Linux sino también otros como los usuarios de Ubuntu. Por el momento Moksha no es un escritorio muy oficial, pero parece que poco a poco eso está cambiando. Xiaomi undoubtedly takes the cake this week with a pair of intriguing new devices. Both the Xiaomi Redmi 3 and the Redmi Note 3 are spectacular offers, mainly for their excellent value. With a 5″ display, Snapdragon 616 SoC, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP camera among other things, the former is priced at an almost unbelievable RMB 699 (around $105 at current exchange rates).
The Redmi Note 3 ups the game quite a bit, providing a 5.5-inch FullHD display, up to 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 650 (former 618) chip. The device is not entirely new, but it does come with a more powerful SoC, integrated X8 LTE with Cat 7 speeds and support for VoLTE and also sells for the spectacularly affordable $151 for the base model.
To finish off Xiaomi’s presence in the news this week, there are a number of new rumors, including images and a full set of specs now available for the company’s upcoming flagship – the Xiaomi Mi 5. It is shaping up to be a true high-end offer with a 5.2-inch QHD display, 4GB of RAM and running on Qualcomm’s latest beastly chip – the Snapdragon 820. Speaking of major device rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is getting ever closer to a release and people are still busy figuring out all of the versions it will come in and their respective release dates. Last we heard, it’s a fifty, fifty affair between having a total of three or four versions.
Lenovo also had a strong week in the mobile realm. It announced the Lemon 3 – an interesting mid-ranger with a 5.0-inch FullHD display, Snapdragon 616 SoC, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP main camera, which looks to be directly aimed at the Xiaomi Redmi 3 and even bears the same price tag of RMB 699 (around $105) in China. Then there is the Lenovo A7000, which was launched in India with high hopes to build on the whopping success of its predecessor and the K4 Note, which was spotted at retailers in Saudi Arabia. Speaking of which, new rumors suggest that a K5 Note is already on the way.
In other news, thy mystery around the alleged resurrection of a 4″ iPhone is slowly unraveling. And the Nokia brand is getting more frequent mentions in the news section as well, this time with a new leak that hints at a flying return to the smartphone realm for the company in 2016.
