Marketing trends that began a few years ago can no longer be ignored. Looking back over the past several months, it’s become increasingly clear that:
The customer is in charge. You can manage the customer relationship, but don’t waste resources trying to control it. Done right, marketing creates interactions that foster a greater understanding of the uniqueness of each individual’s needs and desires. That means your job is to captivate, not control.
“Traditional” customers are just as demanding as millennials. As I mentioned last month, my mom is a grandparent who, at times, shops like a millennial. She’s not 100% brick and mortar. She’s not 100% digital. But regardless of where or how she shops, she expects individualized customer service. My mom is a great reminder that consumers across all demographics are now more demanding. If you don’t engage, you’ll lose – and not just millennials, but more traditional shoppers, too.
Marketers need to choreograph a conversation across multiple diverse channels. Let’s say you send customers an initial piece of collateral by direct mail. When one of those customers comes into the store, you need to pick up that same conversation. You need to know what offers have been presented, what drove them into the store. Then, after the sale, you need to have follow-up dialogue – maybe by email or social media – to keep the conversation going. The marketing applications you’re using have to enable the brand to carry on a seamless conversation across multiple touchpoints and channels.
Engagement must be appropriately paced at the rate of the individual. As I’ve outlined in #1-3 above, marketing success requires engagement, but that engagement must be delivered when it’s most meaningful. You can’t just blast out a message and expect all of your customers to be at the same place on the experience curve. Instead, you need to be responsive to your customers as individuals. Each one wants to be part of the dialogue at their own pace.
How can you best respond to changes like these and create the kind of marketing campaigns that drive revenue? I suggest you observe what I call “the four essential truths of real-time customer engagement.” Namely:
If you don’t know who you’re talking to, it’s almost impossible to be relevant.
If you’re not managing the journey your customer is on, someone else is.
If you can’t decide which of your offers are most appropriate, you can’t expect your customer to do it for you.
If you can’t get your message delivered at the right time, it doesn’t really matter how good it is.
More to help me remember them than anything else, I made up a relatively simple mnemonic. In short, you need to:

Decide
Deliver

The deals just keep on coming. This latest one comes courtesy of El Goog itself, which is offering a $50 discount on the Huawei Watch if you purchase through the Google Store. The Huawei Watch currently sits near the top of the Android Wear market, with a fantastic design and a lot of great features. The downside is that the high quality costs money, making it pricier than most Android Wear watches.
While the cheapest option is technically the $349 stainless steel and leather combo, Google doesn’t offer that one. Instead, it offers the next tier up of either stainless steel and a mesh band or black stainless steel with a black link band. Those options are normally $399 and $449, respectively, but for the time being (likely through Christmas), Google will knock $50 off at checkout. This discount comes in addition to Google’s current offers of free overnight shipping (good through December 23) and extended returns until January 22 (good until Christmas).

Google Translate es otro servicio del gigante Google creado con el objetivo de ser un traductor sencillo pero eficaz; sus traducciones no son las más coherentes pero cuenta con más idiomas que ningún otro, y da la talla para la mayoría de las necesidades más comunes.
Google Translate no solo se limita a traducir el texto introducido; también permite escuchar su pronunciación o visualizar sinónimos, además de sus características integradas en otros productos: la traducción de páginas desde Chrome, la traducción de la información de un producto dentro de la Play Store o la traducción de textos en Gmail, entre otros.
A lo que venimos a hablar hoy se trata de nuevas características que transformarán completamente el uso de dicho traductor en nuestros smartphones, ya que su aplicación podría cruzar las fronteras establecidas hasta ahora de la multiventana.
En la conferencia de hoy “Google for India” en Nueva Delhi, Caesar Sengupta, actual vicepresidente de Gestión de Productos en Google, ha anunciado nuevas funciones de Google Translate, el cual es especialmente muy usado en India, debido a las miles de traducciones de hindi a inglés, consideradas las cuartas y terceras lenguas más habladas por número de hablantes nativos.
Esta nueva actualización del traductor de Google solucionará el problema de abrir y cerrar el traductor una y otra vez creando una “ventana flotante”, parecida a los chats de Facebook Messenger, que al ser pulsada abrirá un Google Translate pequeño pero igual de funcional que en su aplicación en sí. Además, con esta ventana podrás copiar y pegar de igual forma el texto traducido, siempre sin moverte de la aplicación que estés usando.
Esta nueva función ha sido especialmente diseñada para conversaciones entre dos hablantes de distintas lenguas, ya que permite una traducción rápida y eficaz sin moverte de la app de mensajería que estés usando. Si esta aplicación de mensajería es la de Facebook, será divertido ver dos ventanas flotantes (la de Messenger y la de Google Translate) a la vez en tu pantalla.
Las únicas desventajas que podríamos observar es un posible uso elevado de la memoria RAM de tu dispositivo, que podría causar en algunos terminales con una RAM moderada una lentitud de un poco anormal.
