The Leading Mobile Sports Ticketing App Is Venturing Into Music

On-demand mobile sports ticketing platform Gametime announced on Wednesday that it would add discounted concert tickets to its offerings. In addition to tickets for sports events, users will now be able to purchase tickets for concerts by stars such as The Weeknd, Odesza and Billy Joel over an extended timeline, from eight months prior to a concert to even after a concert begins. Users will also have access to panoramic photos from all seats within a concert venue, to ensure that their seat choice aligns with their preferences.

Google Fi now supports tablets without a monthly device fee

Google updated its support page with information regarding new data-only support for tablets on Google’s own MVNO network, Fi. The following devices are ready to active on the Fi network:

Nexus 7 – K009 (US LTE)
Nexus 9 – 0P82300 (US LTE)
iPad Air 2 – Model A1567
iPad mini 4 – Model A1550
Galaxy Tab S – Model SM-T807V

It’s safe to say that any tablet compatible with T-Mobile’s network will work on Fi. Due to hardware limitations, and unlike the Nexus phones, tablets on the Fi network will only connect to T-Mobile’s network for data.

The cost will be the same as the smartphone data plans: $10/GB. The good news is there isn’t a base charge for maintaining a line like the phones have. You can go a whole month without using data and you will be charged $0.

As a final note, it looks like the only way to activate a tablet onto your Fi account is by adding it to an existing line. You must already have an active Fi account before you can add any of the above devices to your plan.

Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S6 and Verizon S6 edge (128GB) selling for just $399 and $599 in US

If you’re in the US and planning to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, here’s some good news: both handsets are currently being sold at insanely discounted rates on eBay.

The Galaxy S6 on offer is an unlocked 32GB T-Mobile variant (should work on any GSM carrier, including AT&T), and it carries a price tag of just $399. For comparison, the device is currently listed on the carrier’s website for $580.

As for the Galaxy S6 edge, it’s a 128GB Verizon variant that is being sold for just $599, down a whopping $300 from its usual price of $899. While shipping is free in both the cases, a “limited quantity” of units are available, so you’ll need to act fast if you want to take advantage of any of these two deals.

Google to officially launch Android Pay in Australia in H1 of 2016

Today, Google wrote a post on its Australian blog of its plans to launch Android Pay in the first half of 2016. Up until now, there was no official word from Google on the status of Android Pay’s rollout for the land Down Under.

Google is closely working with ANZ, Westpac, Bank of Melbourne, Bank of South Australia, Bendigo Bank, Cuscal, ING DIRECT, Macquarie Bank, and St. Geroge (whew! That’s a lot of banks) to bring payments to Android Pay at launch.

There is also a list of places you can use Android Pay once it launches including: 7-Eleven, Brumby’s Bakery, Coles Express, Coles Supermarkets, Crust Gourmet Pizza, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited, Donut King, Gloria Jean’s Coffees, McDonald’s, Michel’s Patisserie, Pizza Capers, and Telstra.

Everything else mentioned on this blog post isn’t stuff we haven’t already heard about: using loyalty cards, storing gift cards, and paying within apps.

Stay tuned for more news about the launch of Android Pay in Australia as soon as it becomes available.

Project Fi adds support for data-only devices

Project Fi won’t be challenging the major carriers anytime soon, but it does offer a compelling package for those that stay in range of Wi-Fi most of the time, as the flat $10/GB data rate plus the base $20 is a very inexpensive starting point.

For those that have already signed up for Fi, another enticing option has been added today with the ability to tack on a data-only device at no additional charge. So while you need to be an existing Google Fi subscriber and paying the $20 Fi Basics fee, there is no charge for adding a data-only device. You order a free SIM card from the Account page within your Fi account by selecting Your Plan and then Add Data-Only SIM. Data is shared between your devices, so if you use 500MB on your smartphone and 1.5GB on your tablet that will be a $20 data bill (plus the $20 Basics) for you at the end of the month.

Unlike the smartphones, which will switch between T-Mobile and Sprint for optimal coverage, the data-only devices are locked to T-Mobile. Data-only devices supported at launch are the 2013 Nexus 7, Nexus 9, Samsung Galaxy Tab S, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4.

I’m not sure if this is going to be the tipping point for anyone to jump on the Fi train, but it’s good to see Google adding features to the fledgling service.

If you are a Google Fi subscriber, we would love to hear what your experience has been like with the service.
