On December 12th, 2015, which happens to be my birthday, the world received a historic gift. On this Sunday morning, I reflect on this global step towards good stewardship of the planet, the only one we have to support billions of people. At the Conference of the Parties-21 (COP21) in Paris, a major international agreement supported by nearly 200 countries was offered. Rather than lay out the details and why this one differs significantly from previous efforts, I point you to the very clearly written “explainer” in the New York Times on the implications of the agreement. But, why is 2 degrees C the internationally accepted threshold?

Una historia de suspense te espera en 9 Clues 2: The Ward
Hoy es el día de las aventuras gráficas y de las historias que nos colocan en distintas circunstancias donde deberemos de sacar la lupa o, al menos, estar bien atentos a lo que vaya sucediendo para ir resolviendo la trama que se nos ponga delante en una serie de videojuegos donde el hilo conductor nos mantendrá enganchados irremediablemente. Si hemos estado explorando distintas partes del planeta en Lost Horizon buscando reliquias antiguas y desafiando a los nazis que intentan encontrar a esos exploradores en el Tíbet, ahora nos pasamos a otra gran temática como es el suspense y el terror.
9 Clues 2: The Ward nos convierte en un joven detective al que le acompaña su pareja para llegar a una isla donde los fenómenos meteorológicos atizan de tal forma para poner todo el ambiente necesario en una historia de suspense que logrará que transitemos por secretos bien oscuros y por ciertas instalaciones de un manicomio local. Una historia de esas que atrapan y que desde hoy podrás asistir desde la palma de tu mano con tu smartphone en 9 Clues 2: The Ward. El misterio y las preguntas que hay que resolver son los ingredientes principales de esta nueva incorporación a la Google Play Store donde tendrás que sacar a la luz tus habilidades detectivescas.
Puzles y una buena aventura te esperan
Estamos ante un videojuego que es básicamente una aventura con unos gráficos que destacan sobre demás elementos. El guion de la historia nos lleva a tomar el rol de un joven detective que va en dirección a una isla inhóspita en la que tendrá que resolver una serie de misterios. Acompañado por su pareja, responde a una llamada desde el manicomio local del Doctor Crow. Cuando llega allí, éste está muerto y aquí es donde el juego comienza.
Deberemos de seguir una serie de pistas a través del juego para así determinar quién mató al doctor. Con esto dicho, nos encontraremos ante 42 localizaciones distintas para explorar y lo que son 18 mini juegos que deberemos de resolver para ir abriendo ante nosotros el resto de la historia y así resolver la trama.
Juego gratuito pero con un pero
Conoceréis un buen número de sospechosos y se tiene la posibilidad de desbloquear logros a través del juego. Posee tres modos distintos de dificultad para que sea más fácil llegar al fin de la historia y así saber quién fue el asesino del Doctor Crow.
El trasfondo de la historia nos lleva a los años 50, así que si sumamos lo que es un asilo, seguramente que, para los fans del suspense del terror, disfrutarán como enanos con toda la trama que ha dispuesto G5 Entertainment. Con esto pretende que pagues 6,19€ en el momento que pase de ser a un juego gratuita a una demo y así se pueda desbloquear todo el contenido mediante un único pago. Han recibido críticas por esto mismo, pero al menos permite probar el juego sin pasar antes por caja.
Aspecto técnico
Sus cualidades son en el aspecto gráfico con unas localizaciones bien recreadas y que despuntan bien, y lo que es la trama en sí que hay que ir investigando. Sus propuestas son bastante interesantes y por esto mismo están siendo reflejadas con muy buenas reseñas por parte de los usuarios en la Google Play Store.
Una muy buena aventura gráfica que promete suspense, tensión y un poco de terror para que esas noches frías sean más llevaderas cuando juguéis desde vuestro smartphone a este videojuego. Muy recomendable para los fans de las pelis de terror y suspense. Como es una demo, no pasa nada por probarla para comprobar si realmente os anima a desbloquear el juego por completo con ese único pago.

Weekly poll: BlackBerry Priv, hot or not?
If mobile business was a sport, then Team BlackBerry threw the Hail Mary pass that fans dream about. The BlackBerry Priv is unique in more ways than one, unexpected in a way but also inevitable.
The company’s own oft-delayed BlackBerry 10 OS leaned on Android apps to bootstrap its ecosystem, but it never quite worked right – it ran an old version of the Android VM, there were bugs and even when everything ran smoothly, the made-for-Android UI of the apps didn’t fit the aesthetic of BB 10 OS.
The native platform is in freefall (some analysts have calculated Tizen has more market share), so BlackBerry had no choice but to go full-blown Android instead of just emulation. Some doubted it would ever happen but here we are.
It did bring its government-grade security features. Sure, Samsung KNOX got some certifications, but you don’t see President Obama or Chancellor Merkel pocketing a Galaxy. On the downside the first release of the software has some issues to hammer out – not unexpected, but not great for a company that needs everything to go just right.
BlackBerry is known for two things – security and keyboard. Sure enough, the BlackBerry Priv has a classic BB keyboard, hidden behind the wonderful 5.4″ QHD AMOLED display with a sliding mechanism. Hardware QWERTY and a slider, our nostalgia is welling up!
Unfortunately, the execution on the keyboard isn’t perfect – maybe because it’s cramped under the screen, maybe because the key travel is pretty shallow, the BlackBerry keyboard is not as great as we remember. And this is not something that can be fixed with a software update.
To be fair to the Canadians, they got a lot of things right – the screen, the camera especially, the top grade connectivity. There are some issues with those things, but the thing that will turn most people away is the price.
Even if the BlackBerry Priv was perfectly executed (and it’s not), few people can justify $900/780 for it. Sales to individual consumers will probably be insignificant, so it’s really down to businesses to buy Privs in droves.
