Data usage and, in particular, the effect of streaming on data usage, is a hot topic with carriers these days. T-Mobile kicked off the game with Music Freedom, which allowed music streaming without impacting your data allotment through a number of different services, the list of which has continued to grow. Other carriers have begun to experiment with their own versions of this concept, and the latest to join the party is Boost Mobile.
As a value carrier, Boost Mobile is always looking for ways to offer a better deal to its customers. The carrier is now offering data-free music streaming on five different services: Pandora, Slacker Radio, 8tracks, iHeart Radio and Samsung Milk Music. While the list isn’t large and doesn’t contain some of the major players like Spotify and Google Play Music, it still adds a nice perk for Boost Mobile customers, who will likely be pleased with the extra value they’re getting.
Boost Mobile has said that it will continue to add more partners in the future, so it shouldn’t be long before we start to see services like Spotify added. It should be noted that this feature is included as part of Boost Mobile’s growing data plans, which rewards customers with free allotments of extra data if they make their payments on time.

When one generally thinks about smartphones that come with extremely big batteries, we assume something along the lines of a 5,000 to 6,000 mAh cell is pictured. Those, however, have just been dwarfed by the Oukitel K10000.
This handset out of China is now the king of battery capacity, as it’s claimed to sport the largest cell ever put into a phone. As its name implies, the K10000 has a whopping 10,000 mAh battery. And it’s now up for global pre-order for those who are interested.
The normal price is $239.99, but apparently you can use the promo code K10000 to get that down to just $199.99. Gearbest will start shipping the device on January 2.
Oukitel brags that the K10000 can fully charge three iPhone 6s Plus units (or just one, but three different times) and still have 10% battery life left. This is because like many other smartphones with huge batteries, the K10000 can charge other devices if you want it to. And why wouldn’t you, considering that its battery capacity is higher than that of most laptops. The K10000’s humongous battery charges itself in three and a half hours, according to the company’s promo materials.
When you look past the battery, though, the Oukitel K10000 is nothing but a mid-range smartphone. It does however feature the nowadays trendy metal frame, and it has a rather unusual design.
The K10000 comes with a 5.5-inch 720p IPS touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP selfie shooter, the MediaTek MT6735 SoC with 1 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, 4G LTE, and dual-SIM functionality. Attack floods Internet root servers with 5 million queries a second
On two separate occasions lasting an hour or more each, a flood of as many as five million queries per second hit multiple domain name system root servers that act as the final and authoritative reference for determining which IP address is returned when a user types a domain name into a browser.
Todo empezó el pasado mes de octubre, cuando Motorola publicó una lista de todos los smartphones fabricados por la compañía que iban a recibir Android Marshmallow. Una vez los usuarios cayeron en la cuenta de que el Motorola Moto E de segunda generación, presentado en febrero del mismo año, no se encontraba en la lista, se desataron las críticas.
Motorola, el rey caído se desploma por última vez
El hecho de que el terminal fuese presentado meros meses antes de ser publicada la lista, hizo que comenzase el recelo hacia la compañía. En ese momento, parecía que la compañía había sucumbido a lo que tanto había procurado evitar, lo que, principalmente, la resucitó de la pronta muerte figurada a la que estaba destinada allá por 2013.
Desafortunadamente, Motorola había abandonado su dispositivo, el Moto E, nada más salir éste al mercado. Fue a partir de este momento cuando muchos perdieron toda la confianza restante en la gran compañía que un día había revolucionado el mercado de los smartphones al presentar el primer gama media a precio de gama baja (para esa época).
¿Android 6.0 para el Moto E? No para todas las versiones
Por lo visto, la firma propiedad de Lenovo ha debido escuchar al incesable torrente de críticas, ya que recientemente parece haber actualizado la lista previamente publicada de los dispositivos que recibirían Marshmallow. Aunque esta información alegrará a más de uno, que no se deje llevar por la euforia, ya que no es oro todo lo que reluce.
Siempre hay que leer la letra pequeña, y cuando lo hemos hecho, nos hemos dado cuenta de que hay varios asuntos que pueden ser motivo de tu preocupación. Para empezar, sólo dueños del Moto E en ciertas regiones recibirán la nueva actualización. Si vives en Canadá, América Latina o Europa, tenemos buenas noticias para ti.
Regiones en las que se actualizará a Android 6.0
Todos los que hayan adquirido el gama baja de Motorola en estas regiones del mundo, recibirán Android 6.0 tarde o temprano. Por otro lado, para todo aquél que resida en China o Estados Unidos, siento comunicarte que, al menos por el momento, no tendrás la mejor versión de Android hasta la fecha.
No ha existido ningún comunicado por parte de Motorola explicando los motivos detrás de esta estrategia. Se trata de una táctica extremadamente extraña, ya que están omitiendo dos de los mercados de smartphones más grandes que existen. En cualquier caso, si el software es casi idéntico, ¿porqué no actualizar todos los Moto E?
Otro contratiempo que merece la pena señalar es que la actualización está destinada únicamente para las versiones 4G/LTE de los terminales. Éstos hacen uso de un procesador Snapdragon 410, no el Snapdragon 200 que viene en la versión 3G. Mirando el lado positivo, por lo menos algunos tendrán Marshmallow.

In the midst of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Paris, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a new Clean Energy Standard requiring half of electricity used in New York State to be produced from clean and renewable energy sources by 2030 and a 40% reduction in carbon emissions. But New York already gets 50% of its electricity from low-carbon sources thanks to nuclear energy and hydropower. Unless the Governor closes the Indian Point nuclear power plant 20 years ahead of schedule because of unfounded fears of a nuclear disaster. Then New York will not be able to deliver on its new clean energy plan or its emissions goals.
