Microsoft Surface Phone shows up in browser benchmark
Microsoft could really be working on a Surface Phone, it turns out. That’s because a mobile device bearing the name Microsoft Surface Phone was recently put through the paces of the HTML5test benchmark, running Windows 10 Mobile no less (which the benchmark hilariously lists as Windows Phone 10). The browser used was Edge 12.
The Windows 10 build on board this mysterious smartphone is an older pre-release affair which has the same designation as the final edition of Windows 10 for the desktop. And the device is listed as having a 640×360 screen, which is clearly absurd – but if it’s a prototype it may just be tested at different resolutions for whatever reason.
Unfortunately no other details are known yet about the Surface Phone. However, bear in mind that the first time we’ve heard a rumor about Microsoft creating such a handset was back in September. Of 2012.
So while it may be that the software giant has finally decided to give the go-ahead for the project taking its Surface brand beyond tablets and laptops, this result could also have been faked. Or “Surface Phone” might just be what Microsoft decided to call its Windows 10 Mobile developer board in order to troll people anxious for an actual Surface phone.

Huawei amenaza el segundo puesto de Apple como vendedor mundial
Ascenso meteórico el del fabricante chino Huawei. La marca ha vendido en el tercer trimestre de este año 27,26 millones de terminales, aumentando su crecimiento interanual un 71,6% con respecto al mismo periodo del año anterior. El estudio que ha hecho público la consultora Garner lo ha recogido el diario El País.
El éxito de Huawei se lo debe a los modelos de varias gamas, como Ascend, Mate y P8. En los últimos días, además, se han filtrado las imágenes del nuevo Mate 8. Hablando de su cuota en el mercado mundial, ésta ha aumentado de un 5,2% al 7,7%, aunque en China ya se ha colocado como primer fabricante por ventas.
Samsung, por su parte, sigue liderando la lista de ventas mundiales aunque con un descenso notable este trimestre. Algo sorprendente teniendo en cuenta que en agosto salió al mercado el Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. Apple, segundo en el ranking, ha conseguido impulsar sus ventas con el lanzamiento del iPhone 6s y el iPhone 6s Plus. En cuarto y quinto lugar están Lenovo y Xiaomi respectivamente. Habrá que estar muy atentos a 2016, cuando lance Xiaomi su Mi5.
Un fichaje de renombre para Huawei
A principios de mes, Huawei anunció el fichaje de Abigail Brody por la marca. Se trata de la que en su día fue directora creativa de Apple, la misma que ayudó a desarrollar y crear el primer iPhone. Y no solo se trataba del terminal, también estuvo presente en los desarrollos del sistema operativo, interfaz de usuario y en la parte de experiencia.
Tras estar diez años en Apple, terminaría marchándose a eBay para ser la vicepresidenta de diseño global. Ahora, se convierte en la Diseñadora en jefe y vicepresidenta de Huawei. La marca china, en su presentación, explicó que llega con un equipo de diseño a Estados Unidos para crear “la mejor experiencia del usuario” en los productos de la marca.
Brody, por su parte, explica esta nueva aventura laboral como la oportunidad de “hacer algo nuevo e increíble: la reinvención del consumo de Huawei desde cero, con una visión”.
En definitiva, aunque a algunos les pudiera parecer que lo de las marcas chinas fabricando móviles sería una moda pasajera, han demostrado que su intención es la de quedarse. De hecho, Huawei, Lenovo y Xiaomi ya forman parte de las cinco marcas de teléfonos móviles más vendidas a nivel global.
