PuzzlePhone, el smartphone modular que querrás probar

A lo largo de los dos últimos años hemos podido conocer varios proyectos enfocados la investigación y el desarrollo de smartphones modulares, y no nos cabe duda de que cada vez estamos más cerca de ver este sueño del terminal modular hacerse realidad y llegar a nuestros manos. No obstante, si eres muy impaciente y no puedes esperar hasta la retrasada presentación del dispositivo de Project Ara, te sugerimos una opción alternativa. El Proyecto PuzzlePhone acaba de ser lanzado en Indiegogo, con el objetivo de alcanzar un cuarto de millón de dólares.

En este instante te estarás preguntando: ¿en qué se diferencia el PuzzlePhone del Project Ara o el Fairphone? Para empezar, su constitución se compone de tres partes principales: the Spine (panel, el marco o estructura y los altavoces), the Brain (procesador y módulo de la cámara) y the Heart (batería y las partes electrónicas secundarias). Una vez en tus manos, tendrás la posibilidad de reemplazar todos estos módulos sin tener que tirar a la basura el resto del dispositivo. Merece la pena resaltar que cada módulo necesitará estar asegurado al teléfono con tornillos.

El PuzzlePhone vendrá con una pantalla de 5 pulgadas con definición Full HD, un procesador octa-core de 64 bits del cual todavía se desconoce su procedencia, 3 GB de RAM y una batería de 2800 mAh. El dispositivo estará disponible en tres versiones diferentes de 16, 32 o 64 GB, además disfrutará de una respetable cámara de 12 megapíxeles en la parte delantera y otra de 5 megapíxeles en la parte trasera. A esto se suma la promesa de la compañía de que el dispositivo está fabricado con materiales ecológico y que vendrá con Android 6.0 Marshmallow de fábrica.

Como hemos mencionado anteriormente, habrá tres modelos disponibles, el PuzzlePhone “1st Edition” de 16 GB y con un precio de 333 dólares, el modelo de 32 GB por 444 dólares y, por último, existe la “Limited Edition”, con 64 GB de almacenamiento y una etiqueta de 777 dólares.

En resumen, PuzzlePhone ha lanzado una campaña de flex funding en Indiegogo, lo que significa que aunque no lleguen al objetivo establecido, conservarán todo el dinero reunido. Por el momento la compañía ha alcanzado en sólo un día una más que respetable cantidad de 42.000 dólares de su objetivo final de 250.000, y todavía le quedan 41 días. No se espera que estos dispositivos sean puestos a la venta hasta septiembre de 2016, como muy pronto.

V-MODA announces Zn in-ear headphones, the perfect daily driver for audiophiles

V-MODA produces some of our favorite headphones, but they usually stick to the larger on-ear or over-ear variety. While we love these style of headphones, and options like the V-Moda XS sound fantastic and pack down to a reasonably small size, there are times when you want something pocketable or more suitable for exercise.

Apple releases second public beta of iOS 9.2

Last week Apple made the first public beta of iOS 9.2 available for those who had signed up for its software beta testing program. And today, just six days later, we get the second experimental iteration of the next version of the company’s mobile operating system.

iOS 9.2 Public Beta 2, as Apple is calling it, is now rolling out as an over-the-air update for devices which have had the first public beta installed. If you are part of the company’s software beta testing program, the update notification is imminent, if you haven’t received it already.

The new beta improves the Safari View Controller, which can now be dismissed through a swipe. Bugs related to the iCloud Keychain and Apple Watch have been fixed. And finally, there’s a new feature: support for AT&T’s upcoming NumberSync service, which will let you make and receive calls on or from any of your devices, using your AT&T phone number.

That seems to be everything that’s included in this release. At the rate things are going, you should probably expect a new iOS 9.2 beta to land next week.
