You’ve watched a YouTube ad, which means you’ve seen an advertisement, too. Whether that ad was skippable in a matter of seconds, or forced you to watch it for up to a minute probably, it doesn’t matter to most people. They’d just prefer the ads go away altogether. Luckily, Google has you covered. Finally.
Google has just announced YouTube Red, which will be a new subscription service that will go live on Wednesday, October 28. With Red, viewers will be able to watch YouTube videos without any ads at all. On top of that, subscribers will be able to download videos to watch later offline, and even use the YouTube app to watch videos in the background while they do something else.
All of that for $9.99 per month.
This new subscription will also include support for Google Play Music, the company’s streaming music service, and even the YouTube Music app when that launches at some point down the road. The subscription will work across devices, so just because you’re watching a YouTube video on your computer won’t mean you’ll be inundated with ads — as long as you’re signed in, of course.
There’s more, though. Google is also launching original content for YouTube, which will only be accessible through YouTube Red. That includes content from popular entities like PewDiePie, as well as creators like Rooster Teeth. Con el tiempo hemos visto evolucionar a YouTube de un sitio web cualquiera donde subir vídeos de forma pública, a la principal plataforma de reproducción de vídeos en línea usado en todo el mundo. Es obvio que con tanto usuarios a sus espaldas se sumen otros servicios como Kids, Gaming o Key Music, pero no todos seguirán su curso, concretamente este último.
Tal y como informa engadget, desde Los Ángeles ha tenido lugar un evento en el que se han confirmado las sospechas que veníamos conociendo semanas atrás: un servicio de pago para YouTube libre de anuncios y con servicios añadidos a la suscripción.
Con ya un precio fijado de 9,99 dólares al mes, accederemos a un catálogo de vídeos con ya muchos youtubers, en el que desde sus canales no encontraremos publicidad alguna. También será posible seleccionar todos los vídeos que queramos para descargarlos y consumir sin conexión alguna.
De hecho, cierta característica muy demandada como la reproducción en segundo plano de la aplicación sin detenerse el vídeo o la música ahora será una realidad con la suscripción.
Algunos de los principales youtubers como PewDiePie se han sumado a la propuesta y también ofrecerán contenido extra y totalmente original únicamente disponible para los suscriptores de YouTube Red.
Por si fuera poco y a la vez para hacerlo más tentador, todos aquellos usuarios que opten por la reproducción del interminable catálogo de Google Play Music, también obtendrán el servicio de música en streaming ilimitado, tal como funciona con la suscripción habitual del mismo.
Todo ello será posible sin necesidad de una aplicación extra, ya que en la próxima actualización de YouTube estará integrado y aquellos que decidan pasar por caja se beneficiarán de todas las ventajas nombradas.
Aún está limitado a Estados Unidos, pero se prevé que más pronto que tarde esté disponible para esto y en nuestro caso, en España, sea una realidad y no una limitación para residentes en EEUU.
