Top 10 Android app updates this week: Lyft, BaconReader

Welcome back to our weekly Top 10 Android App Updates column, where we take a look at the most frequently upgraded apps for the week. We’ve found that one of the best ways to discover useful apps is to find the ones that are actually being updated by the developers rather than selecting the apps with the most installs. As in the past, we’re going to filter out minor updates for the super-popular apps that have over 10 million installs, but we’ll make exceptions for apps that have had significant updates. We hope you enjoy this weekly feature and that you discover some apps that end up being useful.

New Study Suggests Personal Twitter Posts Decrease Social Interaction

“I feel like I shouldn’t be reading this,” a friend told me a few years ago after having read a personal story I’d published. “I feel like I shouldn’t know this about you.” I was proud at the time, because that response was exactly what I’d hoped the story would provoke. I didn’t have a particularly developed philosophy about writing, the Internet, or its relationship to confessional intimacy. But I felt by instinct that online writing should reflect the indecency of self-indictment, the disquieting failure of experience to cohere into a poignant anecdote that could become a tool in someone else’s life journey.

El Samsung Galaxy Note 5 llega oficialmente a Europa

Samsung Galay Note 5 imagen prensa

Six Sony devices will jump straight to Android 6.0 from Android 5.0

Sony has updated its support pages to indicate the fact that at least six of its devices will not be receiving updates to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Instead, these will jump from 5.0 straight to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The devices in question are the Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia C4, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, and Xperia M5. The support pages for all of these now list Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the next version of the OS that they’ll get, even though they’re all still running 5.0.

Given the fact that Marshmallow is already launched, this makes sense. If Sony were to work on the Android 5.1.1 update for these devices first, and only then start developing Marshmallow, you can imagine how late that would come out. Even so, you probably shouldn’t expect any of them to taste Marshmallow this year.

It’s unclear why Sony hasn’t already released updates to Android 5.1.1 for these smartphones and the Z4 Tablet, but now it’s certain that it won’t go this route at…

The Rise of Marketing And Transparency In Recruitment

With the HR Tech Conference about to hit with a bang, top of mind for a lot of us are questions of need and want. If we could have anything we wanted in terms of HR Tech, what would it be? To better push employee engagement — with some kind of magical Big Brother-like metrics that ping us when employees start to lose interest? To finally relegate those creaky file cabinets in Storeroom B to things of the past, by allowing us agile and responsible access to the Cloud? What about big picture planning, endless processes and admin: can tech just do that so we don’t have to?
