Facebook is now testing a dedicated Videos section

Today Facebook has announced a few new features that it will start testing soon. The most important of those is a new dedicated Videos section. This will appear on the website in the Favorites section on the left of the News Feed. In the iOS app, the Videos icon will replace the Messages icon at the bottom, being placed to the left of the Notifications icon.

The Videos section will house videos, obviously. Videos from friends, pages you follow, and other video publishers will all show up here, as well as videos you’ve saved for later (which, by the way, is another new feature that Facebook is testing).

The new section will only be tested for “a small number of people”, the company says, so you probably shouldn’t expect to see this right away. Aside from this, it’s also going to be testing “a way for people to watch a video in a floating screen while simultaneously multitasking on Facebook”, which sounds a lot like what YouTube for Android has been doing for the past few years.

Facebook has also revealed that suggested videos have been rolled out to most users of the Facebook iOS app, and now this will be tested on the Web, with Android getting there “in the coming months”. Unboxing videos of the Nexus 5X and 6P start popping up

While the Nexus 5X and 6P went up for pre-order for a while now, people haven’t had the chance to get their hands on the devices yet. A lot of us are patiently waiting for the devices to arrive. But there are a few unboxing videos for the devices already up, and they offer insight on what comes in the box.

The Nexus 5X comes in a very simple box, which includes a (very large) wall adapter with a USB Type-C port on it. The cable that’s supplied is a Type-C to Type-C cable, identical and reversible on both ends. This does mean you’ll need a separate cable to sync the device with your computer.

The Nexus 6P comes in a very similar box, and while it also includes a dual ended Type-C cable, supplied is a Type-C to regular USB adapter so you can at least sync your phone with a computer out of the box. The extra cash does get you a bit more.

Otherwise, the packaging for the devices is nearly identical, and the devices look really nice. How many of you are waiting for your new Nexus device? Leave a comment!

El Smartwatch de Meizu podría presentarse el próximo 21 de Octubre

Hace un tiempo veíamos los primeros rumores sobre el smartwatch de Meizu. Primero, vimos los primeros rumores que apuntaban a que el fabricante chino estaba trabajando en su primer reloj inteligente. Seguidamente vimos las primeras imágenes del dispositivo y ahora el rumor de un reloj inteligente fabricado por Meizu ha vuelto.

 

Según la última información sobre el futuro y presunto reloj inteligente del fabricante, apunta a que, su presentación oficial podría ser el próximo 21 de Octubre.

Ya fue a principios de Febrero, cuando veíamos las primeras imágenes sobre uno de los componentes del smartwatch de Meizu, su pantalla. Por aquél entonces la pantalla era circular y en las imágenes filtradas recientemente podemos ver como, el supuesto reloj que sale en las instantáneas mantiene la pantalla circular.

Este dispositivo entraría en el programa que Meizu denomina como “Blue Charm”. Con este programa, el fabricante chino, busca ajustar al máximo los precios de los terminales ante las mejores especificaciones. Este programa empezó con el Meizu M1 Mini, un smartphone con pantalla de 5 pulgadas con resolución de 1280×769 píxeles, un procesador de 64 bits fabricado por MediaTek, el MT673, 1 GB de memoria de RAM y una batería de 2610 mAh. Como vemos un terminal con muy buenas prestaciones y todo ello a un precio de 99 €.

Ahora busca que el smartwatch siga ese programa que anteriormente hablábamos, aunque no sabemos que precio podría tener. Tampoco tenemos mucha información sobre el futuro reloj de Meizu, así que no os podemos hablar de las futuras especificaciones del gadget. Lo que si que sabemos es que no correrá bajo Android Wear, así que suponemos que el fabricante chino ha desarrollado su propio sistema operativo para este tipo de dispositivos.

Por lo que respecta a su diseño y como podemos ver en las imágenes filtradas, vemos que el diseño es muy similar al LG G Watch R, aunque hay diferencias. Si que es cierto que su corona es muy similar al dispositivo coreano, pero los materiales de fabricación y, a juzgar por las fotografías, no tienen nada que ver. Su correa parece ser de piel, pero sabiendo que el reloj inteligente tendrá un precio muy ajustado, lo normal por Meizu sería escoger materiales de fabricación baratos.

En cuanto a sus funcionalidades, no irían muy lejos de lo que podemos ver hoy en día en los relojes inteligentes que proceden del país asiático. Por el momento no podemos contar nada más sobre él y, todo apunta a que el próximo 21 de Octubre, Meizu presente su wearable, así que estaremos atentos a lo que ocurra dicho día para poder contar todo lo relacionado con este reloj inteligente.
