Passwords may be headed towards obsolescence, changing how people access smartphones, personal computers, websites and many other password-protected technologies. One reason passwords are dying is that consumer don’t like passwords. People are becoming less comfortable that the sensitive personal data they share with companies — such as health records, credit card numbers, and financial information — remains secure. They believe passwords used to access that data are becoming more vulnerable to hackers. They are more frustrated with the multitude of passwords they need to store, organize, and remember.

The planet is undergoing changes that require diligent science understanding, sound policy decisions, and engaged public stewardship. Interestingly, there is a dramatic difference between our “home” planet and our “homes.” When we get tired of our home or it no longer meets our needs, we seek to replace it or move to a more suitable option. We don’t have a spare neighborhood or vacation planet to hop to for the weekend if we tire of this one or it break. This week is Earth Science Week (ESW), and it reminds us why studying our home is critical.

I imagine that gamers all over the world have developed a certain case of itchy trigger finger on their blaster rifles. That was, after all, the point. The Star Wars: Battlefront beta on PS4, Xbox One and PC went live last week, accomplishing the twin goals of giving DICE an opportunity to stress test their servers and giving players a little taste of what they’ve been building. Critics complained about unbalanced game modes, grindy progression and capricious pickups, but the overwhelming response has been positive, with people praising the authentic Star Wars feel and curiously satisfying blaster-centric gameplay. It’s basically a demo: demos have fallen out of favor in recent years, but the open beta accomplishes the same thin — in EA’s eyes, this is a way to safeguard against a Battlefield 4 style catastrophe and to juice pre-order numbers with excited players. But even if you’ve been having a blast stomping all over Hoth, you still shouldn’t pre-order this game.

El HTC One A9 es uno de los teléfonos que más hype y expectación ha creado desde hace ya unas semanas, y eso que sólo tenemos rumores, puesto que no ha habido ningún comunicado oficial por parte de la compañía taiwanesa. Aunque muchos estábamos esperando la presentación de este rumoreado terminal el pasado 29 de septiembre, nos llevamos una pequeña sorpresa cuando fueron anunciados el HTC One M9+ Aurora Edition y el Butterfly 3. Por esta razón seguimos trabajando para traerte los últimos rumores de este (ya no tanto) misterioso terminal.
El usuario @OnLeaks, famoso en Twitter por sus numerosas y acertadas filtraciones, es quién nos trae las nítidas y detalladas imágenes de esta maqueta del HTC One A9. Puede que sean las imágenes más reveladoras que han sido filtradas hasta el momento, ya que contienen una gran cantidad de detalle acerca del terminal en cuanto a diseño y tamaño. Podemos apreciar que esta versión específica contiene en el lado superior izquierdo de la pantalla el logo de AT&T, empresa norteamericana de telecomunicaciones, lo que sugiere una relación con la compañía.
El HTC One A9 adopta un conocido diseño fino y elegante que la compañía otorga a la gran mayoría de sus dispositivos de gama media-alta. Aparentemente, podemos entrever lo que sería un lector de huellas debajo del marco de la pantalla, a la vez que un orificio en el lateral para la inserción de tarjetas microSD, característica necesaria que al parecer se está poniendo de moda otra vez y siendo implementada en cada vez más smartphones hoy en día gracias a la demanda de los usuarios.
Las especificaciones rumoreadas que presentará este terminal apuntan a un procesador Snapdragon 617 acompañado de 2 GB de RAM LPDDR3, una pantalla de 5 pulgadas con definición de 1920 x 1080 píxeles, 16 GB de memoria interna ampliables a través de tarjeta microSD, una cámara frontal de 4 de los denominados ultrapíxeles y una frontal de 13 megapíxeles con estabilizador óptico de imagen. También sabemos que este dispositivo traerá una construcción compuesta principalmente por el aluminio, una batería de 2150 mAh y además un lector de huellas.
Éstas son unas especificaciones algo decepcionantes ya que nos espérabamos un auténtico tope de gama que sacara a HTC de sus actuales problemas económicos. De todas maneras, si el precio acompaña el nivel de las características y no supera los 350-400 euros estaremos ante un terminal cuanto menos interesante, y una buena opción para todo aquél que no quiera gastarse un dineral en un tope de gama. Sin lugar a dudas ésto son sólo rumores, por lo que no hay nada confirmado al cien por cien hasta que veamos el dispositivo presentado. Independientemente, tendremos más información dentro de poco, ya que se espera que el terminal sea presentado a lo largo de este mes.
Personalmente a mí no me parece un mal dispositivo, pero ¿cuál es vuestra opinión acerca de este terminal?¿Reemplazaríais el vuestro actual por un futuro HTC One A9?

During the summer, ZTE launched the Axon Phone, its high-end flagship that used the Axon moniker to help differentiate it from some of ZTE’s budget offerings. Now the company is launching a smaller version dubbed the Axon Mini, along with the Axon Watch smartwatch.
The Axon Mini is a decently-specced smaller offering. It packs an octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage plus microSD card slot, 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, fingerprint scanner and a 2800mAh battery. Ironically enough, the Axon Mini still packs in a 5.2-inch 1080p display, making it the same size as many full-sized phones. The Axon Mini also brings in a tough aluminum-titanium alloy build material. Color options of Rose Gold, Gold and Silver will be available, with an extra $20 charge for the Rose Gold model.
The Axon Watch is a curious little device that runs Tencent OS, a software developed between ZTE and Tencent. It includes a Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. As far as capabilities go, ZTE says that the Axon Watch can be used for health monitoring as well as other uses, such as replying to messages.
The Axon Mini will launch in various parts of Pacific Asia, China and Europe and will sell in a Premium and Regular edition. The difference between them hasn’t been specified, but the Regular version will be priced at $379 USD while the Premium version will sell for $439 USD. A specific release date hasn’t been announced.
The Axon Watch will launch in China on October 27, though pricing hasn’t been announced.
