Amazon knows how to sell a product, especially when it comes to their own, and a Prime subscription is certainly no different. Prime subscribers already have tons of extra goodies they can look forward to versus the regular shopper that peruses Amazon’s digital store shelves, like free two-day shipping and a plethora of movies and TV shows to choose from with Instant Video.
Now Amazon is adding yet another feature to sweeten the Prime subscriber deal. Amazon officially announced on September 1st that Android users (and iOS users) that are Prime subscribers can now save Instant Video content to their device for offline viewing. Right now, this ability is only available in a few locations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria. Thankfully, for those that have access to this feature, it offers offline playback for both movies and TV shows.
Android users will have to do a bit of work to get the Amazon Instant Video app, as Amazon still blocks it away within its own Appstore app. To download the Appstore you’ll need to sideload it, because it’s not available in the Play Store. Once that’s done, then you’ll be able to download the Instant Video app from there. (If you have an Amazon Fire Phone or Amazon tablet, you already have both apps readily available.) You can find full instructions on how to download the Amazon Instant Video app for Android right here.
Now that the Instant Video app has downloads for offline playback, does this make the app the perfect video player for you?
