Why in the world would anyone read a column about board minutes? Well, the Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court recently published a speech amplifying the conclusions of a much discussed lawsuit in Delaware involving Disney and Michael Ovitz and there’s an awful lot in both the speech and the case on board minutes. I say “awful lot” in both senses: (1) there’s a hefty word count and (2) the conclusion is that skimping on board minutes pertaining to important decisions can result in extraordinarily costly and painful litigation. As a board member of a startup, the issue of whether the board wins or loses the suit can be far less important than whether a disgruntled stockholder can hold up a deal or shakedown the company (and its stockholders) over flawed board minutes.

Oh, how we laughed when Microsoft unveiled a tablet device with an expensive snap-on keyboard. And when Steve Jobs declared that the stylus was complete folly and a thing of the past in 2007, we cheered. The tech industry has a very short memory it seems.

The rumors about the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus were true. The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus devices — which were announced on Wednesday, September 9th — have faster processors, more memory, higher quality cameras, a next-generation Force Touch feature, an advanced Touch ID fingerprint sensor and a smaller capacity battery. Pre-orders for the new iPhones begin on September 12th and customer orders will start to arrive on September 25th.
Some of you may be wondering what the differences are between the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus versus the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Here is a breakdown of the major differences in the new generation of iPhones versus its predecessors.
Size & Weight Differences
Let’s start with the size and weight differences. If you are upgrading from the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus, then you may not be happy about the size differences because your cases may not fit on the new devices. Here is a breakdown of the sizes and weight:
iPhone 6 — Dimensions: 5.44 inches (height) x 2.64 inches (width) x 0.27 inch (depth), Weight: 4.55 ounces
iPhone 6 Plus — Dimensions: 6.22 inches (height) x 3.06 inches (width) x 0.28 inch (depth), Weight: 6.07 ounces
iPhone 6S — Dimensions: 5.44 inches (height) x 2.64 inches (width) x 0.28 inch (depth), Weight: 5.04 ounces
iPhone 6S Plus — Dimensions: 6.23 inches (height) x 3.07 inches (width) x 0.29 inch (depth), Weight: 6.77 ounces
As you will notice the height, width and depth differences between the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are very close to its predecessors. But those subtle differences could have an impact on the accessories you use. Fortunately, the weight of all the devices still remains well under half a pound.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S devices have a 4.7-inch Retina HD displays and the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6S Plus devices have 5.5-inch Retina HD displays. The iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6S Plus screen size has been compared to the LG G4 (5.5 inches) and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (5.7 inches).

The Mathematical Equations That Could Decide the Fate of Refugees
On Wednesday, shortly after European Commission President announced a new plan to distribute 120,000 asylum-seekers currently in Greece, Hungary, and Italy among the EU’s 28 member states, Duncan Robinson of the Financial Times tweeted a series of grainy equations from the annex of a proposed European regulation, which establishes a mechanism for relocating asylum-seekers during emergency situations beyond today’s acute crisis.
