No te pierdas ni un sólo streaming gracias a la nueva función de Twitch

No sorprende saber como cada vez más personas consumen contenido audiovisual por la red en vez de recurrir al clásico televisor como medio de entretenimiento, ya que prácticamente cualquier programa, serie o película la podemos disfrutar a la carta o mediante streaming desde el propio terminal incluso.

Principalmente este último ha tomado mucha más relevancia de la que pensamos, ya que cada vez somos más los que nos perdemos una infinidad de horas en Twitch para ver retransmitidas las partidas de nuestros juegos favoritos acompañados de usuarios con los que podemos chatear en directo y comentar lo que estamos viendo.

El problema es que, si no seguimos muy de cerca a nuestros streamers favoritos no podemos conocer en qué momento comienza una nueva retransmisión. Esto en Android ha terminado gracias a la nueva función ya implementada en estos instantes.

Las notificaciones push llegan a Twitch

Como sabes, si accedes a la aplicación puedes ver el listado de cuentas que sigues para conocer al detalle sus movimientos y ver si en estos momentos están en directo retransmitiendo sus partidas de tus juegos favoritos. El punto negativo es que si no accedíamos a ella no podíamos saberlo, pero ha terminado. Gracias a las notificaciones push, mediante los ajustes de la aplicación podemos configurar si queremos que determinado streamer nos envíe un aviso a nuestro terminal en el mismo instante que comience la emisión en directo.

Pero la actualización 4.4 no trae solo eso, ya que otros añadidos es la barra de búsqueda permanente que visualizaremos de forma constante para hacerla más accesible. Además, si sueles usar la aplicación desde una tablet, ahora desde el modo horizontal puedes visualizar el chat e interactuar con él y los usuarios.

La plataforma sigue en alza y viento en popa, curioso que tras la apuesta de Google con YouTube Gaming no haya hecho siquiera algo de competencia cuando sabemos de buena mano que YouTube no ha podido ni podrá ser sustituido por ningún otro. Quizás no han encontrado la fórmula del éxito, y con el tiempo la comunidad esté divida en dos por intereses propios.

No obstante, hasta entonces seguimos como estamos y puedes disfrutar de las novedades aquí citadas mediante la descarga de la versión 4.4 de Twitch.

HTC One A9 gets benchmarked with 10-core CPU and 4GB of RAM

HTC’s next top of the line smartphone has been in the rumors a lot lately, and we already know it’s going to be sold as the One A9. Its codename was Aero, and we may have already seen it in a leaked image.

As for specs, we now have a much better idea of what to expect, because a One A9 prototype was put through the paces of the GeekBench benchmark. This has helpfully revealed a couple of key features of the device, thanks to the benchmark’s information screen.

The One A9 runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is apparently powered by MediaTek’s upcoming Helio X20 chipset, which comes with a deca-core CPU (that’s ten cores, yes). Of those, two are going to be Cortex-A72 cores, which should perform a lot better than the Cortex-A57s in other high-end chipsets. The other eight cores will be Cortex-A53, divided into two different clusters for maximum performance with minimum power drain.

The chipset will be aided by 4GB of RAM, which is now the norm for any flagship offering worth its salt. It’s also going to have support for LTE Cat.6 networks, with theoretical peak download speeds of up to 300Mbps, as well as 50Mbps uploads.

The Helio X20 has outperformed every competitor out there in the multi-core benchmark, having a score of 5884, more than even Samsung’s Exynos 7420, the current benchmark champion.

The One A9 might become official at a special event on September 29, which HTC’s already announced. That could also be when we’ll see the Butterfly 3 making its debut.

Motorola’s DROID Turbo 2 appears in new pictures

Not too long ago, a leak gave life to a phone dubbed the Moto X Force, which was reportedly slated to be headed to the US as the DROID Turbo 2. Now, a new leak from @upleaks has shown us the Motorola DROID Turbo 2, complete with DROID and Verizon branding. The phone uses a very attractive color scheme of gray, silver and white that combines glass, metal and plastic with a sleek triangular pattern. It looks less like many past DROID devices, and much more like a tweaked Moto X.

The front reveals front-facing speakers, with the bottom speaker split into two parts to allow room for a Verizon checkmark. Up on top, there’s a front-facing camera and what looks to be an LED flash, though it’s always possible that it could be a second camera or simply a sensor. The device is code named Bounce, but @upleaks reports that it will come to the US in October as the Verizon-exclusive DROID Turbo 2. For those outside of the States, the device will be available in December as the Moto X Force.

Office 2016 for Windows will be out on September 22

The wait is almost over if you’re a big fan of Microsoft Office. The next version of the productivity suite now has an official release date, thanks to a Microsoft announcement.

Office 2016 for Windows will become available on September 22. It will follow the release of Office 2016 for Mac, which came out back in July.

With the new version, Office gains real-time collaboration, as well as OneDrive attachments in Outlook, among many other things. The first preview of Office 2016 came out in February, and it got a public release in May.

For companies which subscribe to Office 365 ProPlus, the subscription version of the suite, there will be a new update model added. This will be called Current Branch for Business and it will deliver three cumulative feature updates per year, along with monthly security updates. The alternative is Current Branch, which makes the feature updates monthly too.
