Hammer time: Oukitel K4000 meets nails, lives to tell the tale

Hammering nails with a smartphone – the less popular “Will it blend?”, perhaps because few phones can actually make through it. The Oukitel K4000, a phone with a 4,000mAh battery and apparently a rock-hard forehead, drove several nails – some of them really thick! – into a piece of wood.

All with no visible damage to the phone too, the touchscreen keeps working after colliding face first with all the nails. The screen isn’t covered in anything outlandish, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Still, it can take on the second half of the hammer-and-nail pair – the hammer!

Oukitel also says the K400 can crack 600 walnuts, no problem. Not that you should try that, but you don’t need to be gentle with the handset either.

PS. the Oukitel isn’t the first phone to hammer in nails – here’s the 6.65mm thick Oppo Finder doing it, we’ve also seen HTCs and (naturally) Nokias do it…

El Ubuntu cubano Nova tendrá una versión ligera

Este es el aspecto que tendrá la versión ligera de Nova, ésta versión del sistema cubano tendrá todo lo necesario para funcionar pero con bajos requisitos

Este es el aspecto que tendrá la versión ligera de Nova, ésta versión del sistema cubano tendrá todo lo necesario para funcionar pero con bajos requisitos

El sistema operativo Nova es un sistema operativo Linux originario de Cuba, éste sistema está basado en Ubuntu ,ha sido desarrollado por estudiantes universitarios del país y tiene apoyo oficial del gobierno Cubano.

Los desarrolladores de Nova quieren ir más allá y hoy han dado a conocer que se está trabajando en una versión ligera de Nova, es decir, una versión completamente funcional para ordenadores de bajos recursos.

En cuanto a los programas y características que trae, son los siguientes:

  • Interfaz de escritorio Guano,basado en LXDE.
  • Suite de ofimática LibreOffice en su última versión.
  • Reproductor de música Audaz.
  • PcManFM se encargará de administrar los archivos.
  • Leafpad como editor de texto.
  • LXterminal como emulador de terminal.
  • Navegador web Midori.
  • Instalación sencilla con GTK+ Toolkit.

Ésta versión ligera del sistema Nova, puede tener gran éxito en la isla, debido a que desde que Windows XP se quedó sin soporte, muchos ordenadores de bajos recursos del país cubano, se han quedado sin un sistema operativo fiable y funcional y con éste sistema podrán conseguir un sistema actualizado y con soporte.

Con Nova, los cubanos podrán realizar todas las tareas cotidianas en sus equipos de bajos recursos, podrán redactar textos con Libre Office, navegar por internet con Midori, reproducir sus canciones favoritas con Audaz y todo ello sin gran consumo de memoria ni procesador.

Aunque la idea sea buena, éste sistema no dejará de ser un sistema modificado de Ubuntu, en este caso imagino que de Lubuntu debido a los bajos recursos. Para los cubanos será útil ya que debido al régimen igual les es más complicado tener acceso a todas las distribuciones Linux, pero nosotros tenemos alternativas igual de efectivas como Lubuntu o Puppy Linux.

Aún no sabemos nada sobre la fecha en la que éste sistema será lanzado, pero cuando se sepa algo seréis informados como siempre en Linux Adictos.

YouTube Gaming will soon support streaming from Android devices

YouTube Gaming officially went live at the tail end of August and positioned itself as the largest competitor to the reigning streaming champion, Twitch. Now YouTube Gaming is adding another trick to its arsenal to try and net more users and viewers.

Google has made it known that it will soon be supporting YouTube Gaming on Android-based devices in one new area: streaming. That means that on some devices, Android users will be able to stream their YouTube Gaming shenanigans right from their device, all without needing any extra hardware to get the job done.

What’s more, YouTube Gaming on Android will support audio and video comments by way of the front-facing camera and a connected headset. Game clips can be recorded and uploaded to YouTube by way of the Google Play Games service, too.

There’s a catch, though. This new feature is rolling out in Japan to start, and there doesn’t appear to be a public timetable for when Android streaming will be supported in other countries. According to YouTube Gaming head Ryan Wyatt, “Japan’s mobile games define its gaming culture, far more so than in other countries,” and that’s why they chose that area to launch the new feature.
