Los desarrolladores del Proyecto KDE han liberado hace un par de días Plasma 5.4 la última versión de su escritorio que cuenta con grandes cambios, no sólo estéticos, sino también tecnológicos y funcionales que mejoran notablemente este escritorio.

Plasma 5.4 mejora su rendimiento, consume menos memoria ram y el menú de aplicaciones es más rápido. Además Plasma 5.4 tiene soporte para pantallas DPI soportando mejor las altas resoluciones.

Pero esto no es lo único llamativo de Plasma 5.4. KRunner, la aplicación que nos permitía ejecutar aplicaciones con dos teclas, ha mejorado admitiendo ahora un historial con los comandos ejecutados por nosotros. Los applets de sonido y red han sido modificados, esto hará que estos applets sean más funcionales que antes y dando un mejor rendimiento al usuario.

Plasma 5.4 tiene un nuevo lanzador de aplicaciones

Pero personalmente creo que el mayor cambio viene en su nuevo panel de aplicaciones. Este lanzador de aplicaciones será a pantalla completa, con posibilidad de búsqueda y manejo a través del teclado que hará que olvidemos el lanzador de aplicaciones de Gnome. Como en muchas nuevas versiones de escritorios y distribuciones, Plasma 5.4 cuenta con un artwork nuevo, el artwork Gallore que cuenta con más de 1.400 nuevos iconos que hará que muchas aplicaciones de Gnu/Linux tenga su propia imagen personalizada sin desentonar con el artwork de Plasma 5.4.

En este caso, Plasma 5.4 viene también acompañado de una imagen técnica con Wayland, donde podremos probar Plasma 5.4 sobre el nuevo servidor gráfico. Y cómo no, también tenemos los paquetes oficiales y su guía para instalar en las distribuciones más populares. Enfrentados por el OnePlus 2, ¿digno para estar entre los mejores?

Ya estamos aquí con un nuevo “Enfrentados”, y en esta ocasión, es el turno del OnePlus 2, que por supuesto ya hemos analizado en profundidad. Ahora, como siempre hacemos en esta sección, es hora de sacar lo mejor y lo peor del terminal desde el punto de vista de dos usuarios totalmente distintos, ya que mientras uno solo ve cosas buenas en este terminal, para el otro pesan más las no tan buenas.

The Turing Phone aims to start shipping on December 18

At the beginning of the month, the Turing Phone broke cover. It’s a device that’s focused on security and privacy, with a bevy of software elements and hardware tweaks to make sure that the information present on the handset is yours and yours alone.

The Turing Phone is also billed as an incredibly tough phone, too, made from what the company calls “Liquidmorphium,” which is a liquid metal that’s said to be stronger than both steel and titanium. Put all that together in a relatively mid-to-high-end device, featuring a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM, 16GB/64GB/128GB storage variants, a 3000mAh battery, and Android 5.1 Lollipop with Turing Æmæth UI, and for anyone that’s worried about security, it could be the perfect handset.

Reservations were opened at the beginning of the month, and now the company has confirmed that if you secured your spot, you’ll be able to place your order for the Turing Phone on Monday, September 21. But, if you prefer to wait for what’s known as the “Dark Wyvern” version, which is a stark difference in color compared to the original model, pre-orders for that device go live on September 24, with a full payment of $999 due at the time of pre-order. The company also has a “Glaedr” special edition model, which will only have 3,000 made, and be available to pre-order for $1,299. You can see what the Dark Wyvern model looks like below:

By September 24, the company aims to have all reservations paid for completely, and then shipping is set to start on December 18.

Archos Diamond Tab becomes official with 4G LTE support

Archos likes diamonds, or so it would seem judging by the French company’s latest announcements. A couple of days ago we saw the Diamond S smartphone being introduced, and today it’s time for a Diamond-branded tablet to become official.

We’re talking about the Archos Diamond Tab. This iPad Mini competitor (based on its size) comes with built-in 4G LTE support and an affordable price.

It has a 7.9-inch 2,048×1,536 IPS touchscreen, a 5 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front-facing unit, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, and a 4,800 mAh battery. It’s powered by MediaTek’s MT8752 64-bit chipset boasting a 1.7 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU.

Cat.4 LTE is in, with theoretical peak download speeds of up to 150Mbps, and you also get Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The tablet runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. Its dimensions are 202 x 134 x 7.8 mm, and it weighs 360g.
