Wrapping Your iPhone In Marble

As smartphones become more about looks and personal statements, cases with unique flavours will become more prominent. Different designs, new materials, and unique identifying marks will become more important. Native Union is part of that movement, and recently sent me a sample of its CLIC Marble case for the iPhone 6. Yes, the time has come to set a smartphone in stone.

That Fired Facebook Intern Explains The ‘Marauders Map’ Extension That Cost Him His Gig

10 weeks after his lost Facebook internship made international news, 21-year-old Harvard student Aran Khanna still seems flummoxed that his attempt to fit in with Facebook’s declared “Hacker Ethos” got him booted. When he launched Marauders Map, a browser extension that scraped location data from Facebook messenger and plotted it on a map—and which ultimately lost him the internship he’d lined up—he said he was doing so to highlight privacy concerns.

Five Better Customer Experience Investments Than A Social Media Command Center

I will tell you a big secret. The command center is a PR ploy; a large waste of money that could be spent on actually doing something useful for the customer. However useless command centers are, today they are becoming increasingly popular. Many of today’s biggest brands have them, and they love to show them off. Like a newsroom for social media this is a place where employees can watch what people are saying about the brand. However, if you really think about the command center, you begin to realize how half-baked this idea actually is. Brands get millions of mentions, sometimes in one single day. How could a few people sit at the command center, cranking their head up to large screens and process hundreds of thousands of tweets, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram messages and more?

Samsung Fast Charge wireless charging pad coming soon

Samsung is no stranger to wireless charging, though for a long time it was an optional backing plate you could buy for some of the flagships. But now that its major flagships feature built-in wireless charging, the race for the best accessories is on.

Samsung has put up a product page for its new Fast Charge wireless charging pad, though the device is not yet released. This Qi charging pad will work with any Qi-enabled device, but it will feature fast charging for the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+. Fast charging will cut 0-100 percent charging time by up to 50 minutes, being 1.4x as fast as regular wireless charging. For all other devices, it’s a basic Qi wireless charger.

It’s pricey at $69.99, but for Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ users it’ll likely be worth it. Plus it comes with a multi-color LED halo to tell you the charging status of your device, which is cool. Would you be willing to buy one of these when it launches?

‘Year 2’ Trailer Teases A Raft Of Changes For ‘Destiny’s’ ‘The Taken King’

I had played Destiny for quite a while before I had any idea that Nathan Fillion was in it. This isn’t because he’s doing a voice or anything — once I read it somewhere, I recognized him right away. It’s just that he only his character in the base game is essentially a vendor, with no more than a few throwaway lines and no role in the plot. It’s a bizarre decision, and one that speaks to the broader issues with the story in Destiny: here Bungie has one of the most beloved actors in the nerdosphere, and it basically decides not to use him at all. Luckily, a new teaser trailer for Destiny’s “Year Two” makes it look like he’s finally going to get involved in the plot.
