Latest comScore data reveals shrinking gap between Android and iOS

Market research firm ComScore has released its latest numbers for the US smartphone market revealing an increase in iOS’ market share and a slight decrease in Android’s share of the market.

Android remains the top smartphone platform in the country with 51.6% share of the market, slightly down from the 52.4% it had in the month of March. On the other hand, iOS’ share was up from 42.6% to 44.1%. Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Symbian rounded up the top-5 with 2.9 (down from 3.3), 1.2 (down from 1.6) and 0.1% share, respectively.

As for smartphone manufacturers, Apple continued to be at the top with 44.1% market share, while Samsung came in second with 28.1% share of the market. LG, Motorola, and HTC rounded up the top-5 with 8.3%, 4.9%, and 3.4% share, respectively.

Salió Clonezilla 2.4.2-32 con Kernel Linux 4.1.3 LTS

Seguro que te suena esta pantalla, los amantes de Clonezilla están de enhorabuena pues la nueva versión la 2.4.2-32 viene con el Kernel de Linux 4.1.3 LTS

La popular distribución Clonezilla ha anunciado que tiene nueva versión estable, se trata de la versión 2.4.2-32. El anuncio oficial de su lanzamiento lo dio su desarrollador Steven Siau el día jueves 6 de Agosto de 2015.

Para los que no la conozcáis, Clonezilla es una distribución de GNU/Linux que se utiliza principalmente entre otras funciones, para clonar discos duros, es decir que conseguiremos copiar exactamente todo el contenido y características de una partición de un disco duro a otra partición. Clonezilla es tan popular por el buen soporte que ofrece, sus actualizaciones y que en comparación con otras distribuciones de este tipo, no tiene apenas errores.

En cuanto a las novedades que trae, son las siguientes:

  • Actualizado Kernel de Linux a la versión de largo soporte 4.1.3
  • Actualizados todos los repositorios de aplicaciones, basados en Debian Sid.
  • Actualización de partclone a la 0.2.81-drbl2, la cual trae mejoras en librerías E2fs y XFS.
  • Corregido error en particiones de áreas de intercambio(SWAP).

Si no lo has hecho ya, tienes que utilizar Clonezilla, sobre todo si tienes empresas con discos duros que necesiten ser clonados, primero Clonezilla no necesita instalarse ya que funciona siempre desde modo Live, en segundo lugar Clonezilla no me ha dado apenas errores cuando he trabajo con el y siempre ha cumplido con lo prometido y tercero porque vemos que con éstas actualizaciones como la actualización del Kernel de Linux, que los desarrolladores de Clonezilla hacen un gran trabajo para que todo esté actualizado y correcto.

Si deseas bajar ésta distribución, lo puedes hacer desde la página oficial de Clonezilla, allí te saldrá un desplegable donde escogerás el tipo de arquitectura de tu procesador, en el cual podremos escoger entre 32 bits, 32 bits con Kernel PAE y 64 bits y si queremos bajar Clonezilla en formato ISO o en formato zip,Una vez descargada simplemente la grabamos en CD o la instalamos en un pendrive y ya la tendremos lista para funcionar.

Motorola talks Stagefright exploit, says updates will be handed off to carriers next week

The Stagefright exploit has had quite an effect on Android, causing several device makers to commit to monthly security updates. For many phones, that took effect this week, with companies like Google and Samsung pushing out updates to patch the exploit. Now Motorola has revealed its plans for patching Stagefright.

A new Motorola support page explains that the company became aware of the Stagefright exploit in late June, and since then Moto has been working to patch and protect its devices. The new Moto X Style/Pure Edition and Moto X Play will come with the Stagefright patch pre-installed, as will most Moto G (3rd Gen.) units. Motorola acknowledges that some early Moto G (3rd Gen.) shipments went out without the Stagefright patch, but the the firm promises that an update will be pushed to those devices “soon.”

As for other phones in Motorola’s lineup, Moto says that it’s going to start giving its Stagefright patch to carrier partners on August 10. From there, it’ll work with the carriers to get the updates out as quickly as possible. Here are the devices that Motorola will be issuing Stagefright patches to:

  • Moto X Style (patched from launch)
  • Moto X Play (patched from launch)
  • Moto X (1st Gen, 2nd Gen)
  • Moto X Pro
  • Moto Maxx/Turbo
  • Moto G (1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen)
  • Moto G with 4G LTE (1st Gen, 2nd Gen)
  • Moto E (1st Gen, 2nd Gen)
  • Moto E with 4G LTE (2nd Gen)
  • DROID Turbo
  • DROID Ultra/Mini/Maxx

August 10 is only a few days away, but it’s unclear how long Motorola’s Stagefright updates will be in carrier testing limbo. We’ve already seen several updates issued for carrier-branded Samsung devices, though, so here’s to hoping that the Motorola updates start to appear next week. Until then, Motorola’s got details on how to disable auto-downloading of MMS messages for several popular messaging apps.
