Canonical por fin ha corregido la vulnerabilidad que desconectaba la función de teléfono al quitar el WI-FI de su sistema Ubuntu Touch
El sistema operativo Ubuntu Touch, que desde hace poco está empezando su andadura en los dispositivos para teléfonos inteligentes, está empezando a tener sus primeros bugs o errores, algo que es inevitable en los primeros meses de vida de un sistema operativo.
El pasado día 20 de Julio, se lanzó una actualización para todos los dispositivos que llevan instalado este sistema, la llamada OTA 5, aunque ésta actualización otorgaba algunas ventajas como mejora de la vida de batería en Meixu MX4 o traducciones actualizadas, venía presentando un bug que provocaba que en Ubuntu Touch, cuando desconectábamos la conexión WI-FI para pasar a conexión de datos, dejaba de funcionar la opción de teléfono hasta que el móvil era reiniciado.
Éste error, producido principalmente en los terminales Nexus 4, ya ha sido corregido por Canonical,habiendo lanzado el día 27 un parche para Nexus 4, y el día 28 otro parche para dispositivos como el BQ Aquaris 4.5 Ubuntu edition, el cual permite recuperar la opción de teléfono correctamente.
La gente de Canonical, ha pedido disculpas por éste incidente y por haber tardado tanto en lanzar el parche que soluciona éste problema, ya que llevaba ocurriendo desde el pasado día 20 de Julio y mucha gente estaba pidiendo que se reparase éste problema.
Este error ha disgustado a mucha gente,algo que unido a la falta de aplicaciones esenciales en éste sistema, puede afectar gravemente a la imagen de la compañía, la cual debe ponerse las pilas para su próxima OTA 6 que tiene previsto lanzar a primeros del mes de septiembre y que ha anunciado mejoras en la conectividad y la pantalla.
En mi opinión tenemos que darle tiempo a éste sistema, Ubuntu Touch es un sistema operativo que aún tiene mucho que mejorar y que si le dejamos continuidad puede aportar mucho el mercado de los teléfonos inteligentes. Es habitual que los sistemas tengan fallos en sus primeros meses de vida, o si no acuérdate de lo que fue Android en sus inicios y lo que es ahora, así que tengamos paciencia.

There are plenty of different messaging applications out there, with even more coming down the pipeline, and now Yahoo is getting into the mix, too.
The company has unveiled Livetext, a brand new way for people to get in touch with folks, but with a bit of a twist to the norm. While some messaging platforms have a focus on video and others, text, Livetext bridges the gap between the two and provides users with a live video of the person they’re talking with, but with the conversation still primarily focused on text entry.
That’s right. With Livetext, there’s a real-time video feed that shows the reactions of what’s being said in text, but there’s no audio. The videos are completely silent, and communication, outside sign language and hand signals, is still left to texting. There’s a video below that shows it all works.
There’s no sharing of video or pictures, and the conversation that you’re having with someone in the moment is all there is. Once you’ve finished, it’ll be deleted.
Livetext is available in Ireland, Taiwan and Hong Kong right now. It’ll be available for Android (and iOS) in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Canada beginning Thursday, July 30.

The Google Translate app for both iOS and Android is receiving a big update over the next few days.
First off, Google has added 20 more languages to the app's instant video translation feature. This lets you point your mobile device's camera to the text you need to translate, and instantly transforms the contents into your language.
Following this update, the feature now works with 27 languages. The initial ones were English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, and the new version adds Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Note that Hindi and Thai can only be translated to or from English.
Aside from this live video translation, Google Translate can also use a picture you've snapped of some text you want translated. This feature works with 37 languages.
Another improved thing in the app is its voice conversation mode. This enables real-time translation of (spoken) conversations across 32 languages. This should now be faster and "more natural" even on slow networks, Google says.

Today Sprint has unveiled two new smartphones for Boost Mobile, one of its prepaid brands. Both are made by Alcatel, and they're both going to be quite affordable.
First off we have the Alcatel OneTouch Conquest (pictured below). This comes with IP67 certification, being able to withstand being submerged into up to 1m of water for up to 30 minutes. Additionally, it's dust tight, completely protected against dust ingress.
It has a 5-inch 720p IPS touchscreen with Dragontrail glass, a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP selfie cam, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, 4G LTE support, a 2,500 mAh battery, and it runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The Conquest is available now from Boost Mobile for $129.99 plus tax, though sans any long-term contract requirement.
Moving on, the Alcatel OneTouch Elevate (pictured above) will become available at Boost in August for $99.99 plus tax. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA touchscreen, a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP front-facing unit, a 1.1 GHz quad-core processor, 4G LTE support, and a 2,000 mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, rather surprisingly for such a low-end device.

Los smartphones han alcanzado un punto en el que sin contar con las especificaciones, es difícil vislumbrar qué nos encontraremos pasados unos años. Referente a ello, algo que aún tiene margen de mejora y que pocos fabricantes aplican suficiente innovación es el porcentaje de pantalla en la parte frontal del terminal, que mayormente ni siquiera alcanza el 75 o 80 por ciento.
Pocos son los terminales que disfrutan de una pantalla sin apenas biseles. De los únicos fabricantes que sigue apostando por ello es LG, con resultados favorables como su actual buque insignia, el LG G4. A este, se le suma fuerte competencia como el Oppo R7 Plus y el ZTE Nubia Z9, claros ejemplos de cómo eliminar por completo los biseles y ofrecer algo distinto al público.
Al igual que HTC, Sony nunca ha destacado por conseguir unos biseles delgados y mucho menos descartados por completo, pero parece que están logrando interesantes avances en la fabricación del aspecto físico de sus terminales y un manual de instrucciones ha revelado el cuerpo del terminal y es cuanto menos sorprendente.
En la parte delantera encontramos, además de la espectacular pantalla que alcanza de izquierda a derecha sin ningún marco, una cámara frontal con flash para los selfies, un altavoz, el altavoz de oreja, sensor de proximidad y LED de notificaciones, todo lo habitual y visto en otros terminales. Sin ninguna novedad destacable.
Por el otro lado, en la parte trasera aparece la cámara principal con su flash, el área de detección del NFC, el logotipo del fabricante Sony y la gama Xperia. Y en los laterales una tapa que oculta el slot para nanoSIM y microSD, botones de volumen, desbloqueo y capturar fotografías desde la aplicación.
Respecto al resto de especificaciones hasta día de hoy aún son un completo misterio, pero basándonos en su antecesor, el Sony Xperia C4, apunta a ser un gama media pero con unos extras muy interesantes, cierta renovación del diseño y principalmente su espectacular pantalla sin biseles.
Esperaremos que se haga realidad y por supuesto, que este sea el nuevo diseño –al menos de la parte frontal– de los próximos buque insignia, que a corto plazo apunta directamente al rumoreado Sony Xperia Z5 que tendría lugar su presentación oficial en el IFA de Berlín.
