MTV’s programming president Susanne Daniels joins YouTube

YouTube has hired MTV's programming president Susanne Daniels as the vice president of its Originals division that, as the name suggests, focuses on bringing original content onto the video sharing website.

As part of her new role, Daniels will manage the division's development pipeline and oversee production, and will report to YouTube's content & business operations head Robert Kyncl, the company revealed.

This comes just a few months after rival Amazon announced that it will begin producing and acquiring original movies for theatrical release and early distribution on its Prime Instant Video service.
